Trumpet/Flugelhorn virtuoso Alex 'Sasha' Sipiagin makes his Blue Note debut as a leader on June 21 to release his latest CD, Generations (Criss Cross, May '10), a tribute to the late trumpeter Woody Shaw.

Yesterday, June 17, the New York Marriott Marquis hosted the 41st annual Songwriters Hall of Fame in New York City. Presenters and performers at the gala include Kim Carnes, Peter Cetera, Charice, Judy Collins, Bruce Hornsby, Billy Joel, Diana Krall, KD Lang, John Mayer, Brian Stokes Mitchell, LA Reid, Raphael Saadiq, Paul Shaffer, Dionne Warwick, Elizabeth Withers and Nikki Yanofsky.
