YOUTH ORCHESTRAS:                                                  The Rhode Island Philharmonic YOUTH ORCHESTRAS (RIPYO) will hold auditions by appointment for the Symphony Orchestra, Repertory Orchestra, String Orchestra, Intermediate String Ensemble and String Ensemble. For an audition application or more information, please visit musicschool.riphil.org or contact Youth Ensembles Manager CHELSEA ANDERSON at 401-248-7038 or canderson@ripihl.org.             RIPYO provides quality orchestral rehearsal and performance experience for talented young musicians from Rhode Island and nearby Connecticut and Massachusetts. The professional conducting staff, led by Music Director, Symphony Conductor and RI Philharmonic Orchestra Member Alexey Shabalin, is committed to providing the best educational experience for each student.             All RIPYO ensembles rehearse once weekly at the RI Philharmonic's Carter Center for Music Education & Performance in East Providence from September through May and present three major performances. Birmingham Royal Ballet announces the 2016/2017 Birmingham Hippodrome season, the 27th season at its home theatre in the Midlands. The season will celebrate the Company's varied repertory, from the spectacular new The Tempest in the autumn through to the return of The Nutcracker for Christmas and Coppelia in the summer of 2017. Over the course of the season, the Company will perform four full-length classic ballets and a programme of shorter works to include the return of Michael Corder's Le Baiser de la fee, John Cranko's Pineapple Poll and a brand new ballet from Company member Ruth Brill called Arcadia. Veteran producer Pat Addiss (Buyer and Cellar, Love Letters) and Georganne Aldrich Heller (Howie the Rookie-Bam, Silent, Forgotten) president of Irish Theatre & Film Production (georgannealdricheller.com) have announced that they will join forces in presenting two invitation only, special staged readings of 'Loves of Picasso' written and directed by Terry D' Alfonso. The two readings will be held on October 9th at 2PM and 5pm at MOMA to coincide with museum's opening of the largest ever Picasso sculpture exhibit that same week. The script is based on the private life of Picasso, the women he loved and will include video installations conceived by Terry D' Alfonso. (more...)
