Dorothy Dandridge! The Musical is being presented at the New York Theater Festival on December 11, 15 and 17 after a successful debut at Carnegie Hall in 2022.

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that actor and singer Harry Belafonte has died at age 96. Belafonte was an American singer, songwriter, activist, and actor. He is one of the most successful Jamaican-American pop stars in history.

Martin Scorsese will receive the Eva Monley Award from the Location Managers Guild International (LMGI) at its 9th Annual LMGI Awards. The awards ceremony and dinner will honor more than 50 years of Scorsese’s extraordinary award-winning work. The announcement was made by John Rakich, LMGI President and Committee Chair of this year’s LMGI Awards.

Producers N’Kenge and Richard Bell will present a private industry reading of “Dorothy Dandridge: The Musical” the true story of Hollywood’s very first African- American movie star, with book & lyrics by 2-time Emmy Award winner Trey Ellis, music & lyrics by Shelton Becton and directed by Tony Award winner Tamara Tunie.

Olivier played more than 120 stage roles and appeared in nearly 60 films throughout his illustrious career.

As the final concert of three, Melissa Errico and Adam Gopnik premier their evening for the French Institute; Alliance Française, IL PARLE, ELLE CHANTE, PART 3: MYSTERY. It is a treat for the music lover, the knowledge lover, and the francophile.

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that actress Martha Stewart has died at age 98. Stewart was known on Broadway for playing the role of Miss Adelaide in the original production of Guys and Dolls in the 1950s, also going on to perform in the West End production.

MGM has set Dee Rees is set to write and direct a feature film adaptation of George Gershwin's Porgy and Bess for MGM, according to Deadline.

Erik Lee Preminger, the son of legendary burlesque performer Gypsy Rose Lee (whose 1957 memoirs inspired the classic musical GYPSY) and film director Otto Preminger, will appear in-person at Naples's Theatrezone on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 to present his one-man show about his famous mother (featuring rare home movies, television shows, newsreel footage, a question-and-answer session, and more). TheatreZone, a Naples-based professional Equity theatre specializing in Broadway musicals, begins its 15th season with Home for the Holidays which will be presented at Dec. 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 14 and 15 at 2:00 p.m.
