Children's Playhouse of MD Presents THE SOUND OF MUSIC Beginning 5/8

The Children's Playhouse of Maryland, in residence at the Community College of Baltimore County, Essex, presents The Sound of Music 1 p.m. weekends May 7-8, 14-15, 21-22. A special 4 p.m. May 15 show will be Sign Language Interpreted by student interpreter interns from the CCBC Interpreter Preparation Program.

Matt Logan could easily have rested on his laurels and simply re-staged the second offering of showHOPE's Cinderella, the Enchanted Edition in exactly the same manner as he did in 2010 - it was a magical evening, at the very least, and it would certainly be easier, acceptable even to his most loyal fans, to have done so. Instead, as expected, Logan, one of the region's finest and most inventive stage directors, chose to re-imagine his vision for Cinderella, giving it a more sophisticated presentation and breathing new vigor into the project while tapping heretofore unknown reserves of creativity among his cast and crew - and even himself.

Baz Bamigboye has revealed in the UK Daily Mail today that Daniel Koek will take the stage as Lt. Cable when South Pacific hits the Barbican Theatre in London this summer. The Bartlett Sher production, which opened at Lincoln Center in 2008 and is currently on tour, will also star original Bloody Mary Loretta Ables Sayre and Paulo Szot as Emile DeBecque. The UK's Samantha Womack will play Nellie Forbush.

Paulo Szot to Star in UK Transfer of SOUTH PACIFIC

Tony winner Paulo Szot is set to return to SOUTH PACIF as Emile de Becque in the upcoming London transfer of the 2008 Broadway revival. The production opens at the Barbican Theatre AUgust 15 before beginning a UK tour. Samantha Womack will play Nellie Forbush.

Kelli O'Hara to Release New Album, ALWAYS, in May

SOUTH PACIFIC star Kelli O'Hara will release her second solo album under the Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight label. The album, entitled Always, features 13 tracks consisting of a collection of Broadway favorites from MY FAIR LADY and SOUTH PACIFIC, as well as songs by Irving Berlin and Ricky Ian Gordon among others. The album is set to be release May 31, 2011.

Stephen Sondheim's second book, a follow up to his 'Finishing The Hat', is now available for pre-order. Entitled, 'Look, I Made a Hat: Collected Lyrics (1981-2011) with Attendant Comments, Amplifications, Dogmas, Harangues, Wafflings, Diversions and Anecdotes,' Amazon is taking pre-orders here. The book was scheduled for release on October 25, 2011, but has now been moved to November 22, 2011. We've also learned that also due out on November 22 will be a boxed set of both books, appropriately named by Sondheim himself as 'Hat Box'.
