Winner of the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and three 2009 Tony Awards®, Next to Normal explores how one suburban family copes with crisis. With powerful lyrics and an electrifying pop-rock score of more than 30 songs, this intense, emotional and ultimately hopeful musical aims right for the heart with its story of a family coming to terms with its past and bravely facing its future. Actors' Playhouse is the first regional theatre in South Florida to produce the show following its long Broadway run and National Tour. Next to Normal will be presented at the Miracle Theatre from January 18 - February 12, 2012.

Renaissance Theaterworks (RTW) celebrates the 2nd year of its 3-year Diversity Series with NEAT by Charlayne Woodard. RTW Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director Suzan Fete will direct this play featuring UPROOTED Theatre Co-Founder Marti Gobel.

Led by Kelly Owens, Best Actress Nominee (Black Theatre Alliance Awards) and Madrid St. Angelo, Best Supporting Actor Nominee (Joseph Jefferson Awards), UrbanTheater Company's production features an ethnically diverse combination of Chicago notables and newcomers.

Rehearsals are underway for the world premiere of Danai Gurira's The Convert at McCarter Theatre Center in Princeton, NJ, January 13 through February 12, 2012 (press opening: January 20). Directed by Emily Mann, The Convert is produced in association with Center Theatre Group (Los Angeles) and The Goodman Theatre (Chicago). The cast features Pascale Armand, Cheryl Lynn Bruce, Zainab Jah, Kevin Mambo, LeRoy McClain, Warner Joseph Miller, and Harold Surratt.

Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick, will present Academy Award winner F. Murray Abraham in a new production of Bertolt Brecht's GALILEO, translated by Charles Laughton, and directed by Kulick, beginning performances Wednesday, February 1 at CSC (136 East 13th Street) for a limited engagement through Sunday, March 11. The official press opening for GALILEO is Sunday, February 12. Tickets for GALILEO go on sale to the public today, Tuesday, January 3.

La Jolla Playhouse has announced the cast and creative team for its production of American Night: The Ballad of Juan Jose, written by Richard Montoya (Zorro in Hell) for Culture Clash, developed by Culture Clash and Jo Bonney (The Seven, Adoration of the Old Woman), directed by Jo Bonney. A co-production with Center Theatre Group and originally commissioned and produced by the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, American Night: The Ballad of Juan Jose will run January 27 - February 26, 2012 in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre.

Fox Valley Repertory begins its 2nd season with the comical glimpse behind the creation of the screenplay 'Gone With the Wind' with Ron Hutchinson's Moonlight and Magnolias. Directed by Dennis Zacek, former Tony Award-winning Artistic Director of Victory Gardens, performances will take place at the Pheasant Run Resort Mainstage (4051 E. Theatre Communications Group (TCG) has announced the publication of Nilo Cruz's The Color of Desire/Hurricane, two new plays by the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Anna in the Tropics.

Repertorio Español presents a rotating repertory of theatrical productions of plays as well as dance and musical concerts from Latin America, Spain and by Hispanic-American artists. All productions (except those noted) are presented in Spanish with live simultaneous translation to English via wireless headsets.
