MusiCares announced today that Tori Amos, Colbie Caillat, the Eli Young Band, Melanie Fiona, Demi Lovato, Owl City, Parachute, Jenni Rivera, Paulina Rubio, Patrick Stump, and Sugarland are the latest group of artists to join the innovative 'Be A Part Of The Heart' fundraising campaign, which invites the public to come together to create an online mosaic comprised of photo tiles.

Paul McCartney, legendary singer/songwriter and 14-time GRAMMY winner (as well as Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement and Trustees Award recipient), will be honored as the 2012 MusiCares Person of the Year at its 22nd annual benefit gala, it was announced today by Neil Portnow, President/CEO of the MusiCares Foundation and The Recording Academy , and Scott Pascucci, Chair of the MusiCares Foundation Board.

The Recording Academy® (www.grammy.com) recently held its spring Board of Trustees meeting in Los Angeles, and elections for National Officers yielded the following: award-winning music video director/producer George J. Flanigen from Nashville was re-elected to a second term as Chair; recording artist Christine Albert from Texas was elected Vice Chair; engineer/producer Glenn Lorbecki from the Pacific Northwest continues for a second term as Secretary/Treasurer; and five-time GRAMMY® winner Jimmy Jam from Los Angeles was re-elected for a second term as Chair Emeritus.

Grammy Awards Change Musical Category from Show to Theatre

In the past two decades, the Grammy Award that many theatre fans take note of has been known as 'Best Musical Show Album', and has been awarded to Broadway casts along with the producers and composers who helped to put the show on the Great White Way. Is that about to change? In accordance with the newly announced category restructuring for the 2012 Grammys, at least one part of the award will change: it will now be entitled 'Best Musical Theater Album' in an effort to widen the category.

In an effort to continuously evolve its GRAMMY® Awards process, The Recording Academy® (www.grammy.com) announced today that it has restructured the GRAMMY Categories across all genres and Fields, bringing the total number of Categories to be recognized at the 54th GRAMMY Awards in 2012, to 78 (from 109).
