The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson), Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel announced the opening date today for the summer's biggest hit, Daniel Sullivan's critically acclaimed production of THE MERCHANT OF VENICE. Al Pacino will reprise his celebrated performance as Shylock on Broadway for 78 performances only, beginning Tuesday, October 19 at the Broadhurst Theatre (235 W. 44th Street) and running through Sunday, January 9. Opening Night will be Sunday, November 7 at 6:45 p.m.

Deadline.com reports that stage and screen vet Oliver Platt is the latest star to join the newest X-Men film, X-Men: First Class. He will be appearing alongside a growing list of stars including Kevin Bacon, who will play a villain who fights Charles Xavier, played by James McAvoy and Magneto, played by Michael Fassbender.

Tuesday nights are about to get a lot hotter as Oxygen Media rouses those lazy days of summer with August premieres including the return of hit series 'Bad Girls Club,' in its new city and its new time, Tuesday, August 3 at 9pm ET/PT; and the series premiere of fantasy hair competition series 'Hair Battle Spectacular,' Tuesday, August 10 at 10pm ET/PT. The new Tuesday lineup marks the network's first night of programming with weekly, back-to-back premieres of two original series.

In a recent article by the LA Times discusses the upcoming production of "Robin and the 7 Hoods," at the Old Globe which celebrates the songwriters Cahn and Van Heusen. The duo won three Oscars and was nominated for 8, but never won a Tony.
