It was Cupcakes Galore yesterday, August 16, 2016, when the best of Bucks County bakeries competed in a Cupcake-Off, the first ever cupcake competition at Bucks County Playhouse. Broadway, TV and film star Justin Guarini, taking on the role of his character in Cake Off, the new musical at the Bucks County Playhouse opening this weekend, hosted the competition, while the rest of the cast and the Alex Fraser, Producing Director of BCP, judged. Broadway, television and film star Justin Guarini returns to Bucks County Playhouse when he joins Tony nominee Euan Morton, Barrymore winner Michele Ragusa and newcomer Aidan J. Lawrence at Bucks County Playhouse for 'Cake Off,' a new musical by Sheri Wilner, Julia Jordan and Adam Gwon. 'Cake Off', directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch, will preview on August 19, with opening night August 20 and run through September 10, 2016. (more...)

Closing out a spectacular 9th season at Long Island's John W. Engeman Theatre is a first-rate incarnation of the Tony winning musical Thoroughly Modern Millie. Is this show done consistently? Perhaps. But let me tell you everything about this production, running through July 10th, is absolutely top-notch and certainly a must-see for this season. (more...)

Steele Spring Stage Rights, the licensing company that represents The Marvelous Wonderettes franchise, has acquired the theatrical performance rights to the hit Off-Broadway comedy APPLICATION PENDING, co-authored by Greg Edwards & Andy Sandberg. APPLICATION PENDING played a limited engagement starring Christina Bianco at the Westside Theatre earlier this year, earning a Drama Desk nomination for Outstanding Solo Performance and winning the Broadway World Award for Best Off-Broadway Play. Michele Ragusa (Young Frankenstein, Titanic) has been cast to star in the reading of McGurk's Suicide Hall, a fictional account of actual events as "Big Mame" the lead attraction at the hall on October 19 at 9pm at TADA! Theatre in Manhattan. Alongside Michele will be Amanda Rose (Wicked, Oklahoma) playing "Emma" a new American arrival, and Brian Childers (Helen Hayes Award winner - Danny and Silvia) as "McGurk", the owner of the hall. Now, to continue in the tradition of giving each of us the theatrical experience we truly relish and yearn for this time of year (if not always!), the Playhouse brings a stellar production of five-time Tony Award Winner The Drowsy Chaperone to a Cape Cod audience, and let me just put it out there now that this production does everything but cause any sort of drowsiness; that is reserved for the title character as she joins a cast of beyond talented performers who make this show the great experience we all so hope to have at the theater. As that lovable man in his chair states, audiences hope for a show that will whisk it away to another world for a couple of hours, sucking each of us into the plot of a new, interesting and at times slightly tumultuous show; hold on to your hats for this one.
