Meredith Monk to Premiere BACKLIGHT at Carnegie Hall, 2/16

Legendary composer, performer, vocalist, director and choreographer Meredith Monk continues the celebration of her landmark 50th season on February 16 at Carnegie Hall with the New York City premiere of a new work, Backlight, performed by the acclaimed Ensemble ACJW, for whom the piece was composed. Commissioned by Carnegie Hall-where Monk is honored to hold the 2014-2015 Richard and Barbara Debs Composer's Chair-the piece, which plays sonically with ideas of shadow and light, will have received its world premiere by the group just days earlier at the Arthur Zankel Music Center, Helen Filene Ladd Concert Hall in Saratoga Springs, New York on February 13. 10 Hairy Legs Coming to Crossroads Theatre, 3/29

Randy James' all male dance company, 10 Hairy Legs, returns to Crossroads Theatre, New Brunswick for its third consecutive appearance on Sunday, March 29 at 3:00 pm. Continuing to showcase the company's expanded repertory that explores the range of the male dancer, the performance will be followed by a Panel Discussion on the stage with Artistic Director Randy James, New Jersey choreographer Cleo Mack and Company Member Kyle Marshall. Tickets are $25 for Premium Seating Center Section and $22.50 for Seniors, $20 Adult Side Seating and $15 for students and children.

The thirty-one performers of TOXIC PSALMS, the latest production created by conductor Karmina Šilec and her ensemble CARMINA SLOVENICA, have certainly created a provocative pastiche. After an initial run in Berlin last year, TOXIC PSALMS played as part of the 2015 PROTOTYPE FESTIVAL, marking the work's North American debut.

On Monday, February 16 at 7:30 p.m. in Weill Recital Hall, Ensemble ACJW-an inspirational collective of young professional musicians-performs the New York premiere of a new three-movement work Backlight by acclaimed composer Meredith Monk, holder of the Richard and Barbara Debs Composer's Chair at Carnegie Hall this season. Backlight, which plays sonically with the idea of shadow and light and was commissioned by Carnegie Hall for Ensemble ACJW, receives its world premiere by the group in the Arthur Zankel Music Center, Helen Filene Ladd Concert Hall in Saratoga Springs, New York, on Friday, February 13 at 8:00 p.m., as part of a week-long residency at Skidmore College. Both concerts also include Roussel's Trio for Flute, Viola, and Cello, and Ravel's Piano Trio in A Minor.

Get ready to mix up boundaries with WINTRY MIX, a curated sampler of new works crossing the divides between theater, dance and music. The Bryn Mawr College Performing Arts Series presents two opportunities to witness two different lineups of extraordinary performers on January 30 and 31 at 8:00 PM at the Hepburn Teaching Theater in Goodhart Hall. Each night features a different headliner joined by an array of other performers and concludes with an audience participation dance party. Most sets will last just twelve minutes, enabling the adventurous artists (and the audience) to take risks.
