The Apple Hill String Quartet to Perform World-Renowned Composer Meredith Monk's only String Quartet, Stringsongs, as part of Meredith Monk's 50th Year Celebrations.

New York City, NY (For Release 2.24.15) — Composer/percussionist Lukas Ligeti today announced a robust 2015 season in anticipation of his 50th birthday (6.13.15). A champion of intercultural music and arguably one of the world's most ingenious composers, Lukas is celebrating with world premieres at Roulette, two album releases, live performances with his jazz hybrid trio Hypercolor, a weeklong Stone residency, and more. Miller Theatre at Columbia University School of the Arts announces the start of its 2015 series BACH, REVISITED. The "enticing," "alluring," and "intriguing" (The New York Times) series returns, pairing contemporary composers with Bach.

Legendary composer, performer, vocalist, director and choreographer Meredith Monk continues the celebration of her landmark 50th season on February 16 at Carnegie Hall with the New York City premiere of a new work, Backlight, performed by the acclaimed Ensemble ACJW, for whom the piece was composed. Commissioned by Carnegie Hall-where Monk is honored to hold the 2014-2015 Richard and Barbara Debs Composer's Chair-the piece, which plays sonically with ideas of shadow and light, will have received its world premiere by the group just days earlier at the Arthur Zankel Music Center, Helen Filene Ladd Concert Hall in Saratoga Springs, New York on February 13. Randy James' all male dance company, 10 Hairy Legs, returns to Crossroads Theatre, New Brunswick for its third consecutive appearance on Sunday, March 29 at 3:00 pm. Continuing to showcase the company's expanded repertory that explores the range of the male dancer, the performance will be followed by a Panel Discussion on the stage with Artistic Director Randy James, New Jersey choreographer Cleo Mack and Company Member Kyle Marshall. Elisa Monte Dance, an emotionally charged and highly acclaimed dance company that champions individuality, announces its 34th anniversary gala on January 22, 2015, at The Ailey Citigroup Theater. With the recent appointment of Tiffany Rea-Fisher as the next artistic director of Elisa Monte Dance in 2016, the gala, will resurrect the work and legacy of company founder, Elisa Monte, while spotlighting Rea-Fisher as a groundbreaking dance maker with a unique voice of leadership. The evening will revisit excerpts from Monte's two most recent works Terra Firma and Lonely Planet, along with Feu Follet, and the world premiere of Fisher's why so curious?.

The thirty-one performers of TOXIC PSALMS, the latest production created by conductor Karmina Šilec and her ensemble CARMINA SLOVENICA, have certainly created a provocative pastiche. After an initial run in Berlin last year, TOXIC PSALMS played as part of the 2015 PROTOTYPE FESTIVAL, marking the work's North American debut.

Backlight, which plays sonically with the idea of shadow and light and was commissioned by Carnegie Hall for Ensemble ACJW, receives its world premiere by the group in the Arthur Zankel Music Center, Helen Filene Ladd Concert Hall in Saratoga Springs, New York, on Friday, February 13 at 8:00 p.m., as part of a week-long residency at Skidmore College. Both concerts also include Roussel's Trio for Flute, Viola, and Cello, and Ravel's Piano Trio in A Minor.
