LA MAMA KIDS - the Tony Award-winning theatre's popular performance and workshop series for youngsters and their parents - will present a one-day-only dance event, the LA MAMA MOVES! DANCE WORKSHOP on Saturday, May 18 at noon at La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E. 4 St.) in NYC.

"There's probably no frame wide enough to encompass the creative output of the pianist Vijay Iyer," The New York Times observed. His Ph.D. in cognitive science from UC Berkeley is just the start. He's been recognized as a bona fide "genius" by DownBeat magazine and was named by GQ India as one of the 50 most influential Indians. The jazz pianist is also a prolific recording artist and his quintet will play the final Jazz Club performances of The Soraya's 2018/19 season on May 10 and 11.

Bang on a Can and the Jewish Museum's 2018-2019 concert season, pairing innovative music with the Museum's exhibitions and showcasing leading female performers and composers, continues on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 8pm. 

On Friday and Saturday, April 26–27 at 10:00 and 11:15 a.m., Carnegie Hall presents the world premiere of NOOMA, a new work co-commissioned by Carnegie Hall, Minnesota Opera, and San Francisco Opera. This new opera, composed specifically with babies in mind, uses parachutes to create an intimate world of wonder and interaction.

In a deep exploration of an artist's life, Paraiso investigates aging, identity, sexuality, class and race. Directed by MacArthur Fellow John Jesurun, now my hand is ready for my heart: intimate histories is also a multi-disciplinary celebration of an artistic community as it grows older and continues to make work, both individually and with each other.

Bang on a Can and the Jewish Museum's 2018-2019 concert season, pairing innovative music with the Museum's exhibitions and showcasing leading female performers and composers, continues today, February 28, 2019 at 7:30pm. The acclaimed string quartet ETHEL performs the complete string quartets of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Julia Wolfe: Dig Deep, Early that Summer, Four Marys, and Blue Dress. This is the first performance of all of Wolfe's string quartets at one time, on one stage.

In celebration of her career as a dance critic, writer, dancer, choreographer and educator, From the Horse's Mouth will dedicate its next theater/dance performance event to Deborah Jowitt, whose lifelong accomplishments exemplify a storied career spanning more than 50 years.

92Y's Tisch Center for the Arts is proud to announce its 2019/20 Classical season, with more than 50 concerts from mid-October through early June. Curated by DirectorHanna Arie-Gaifman with Artistic Administrator Nicholas Russotto, it may be 92Y's most ambitious season to date, in both size and artistic scope. From solo recitals to chamber operas, the 19/20 offerings epitomize the world-class artistry and intelligent programming for which 92Y is known. La MaMa will present the US Premiere of Kosovo's Qendra Multimedia in 55 SHADES OF GAY: BALKAN SPRING OF SEXUAL REVOLUTION, a contemporary burlesque story about LGBTI politics in the Balkans written by Jeton Neziraj and directed by Blerta Neziraj. Performances begin March 7, 2019 at The Ellen Stewart Theatre at La MaMa.

Mark Murphy has announced his decision to leave REDCAT (Roy and Edna Disney CalArts Theater), the California Institute of the Arts' contemporary performing arts and exhibition space located in The Walt Disney Concert Hall, at the end of the 2018/2019 season, in order to focus his attention on initiating new creative programs and productions in a variety of US and international cities. Murphy has led REDCAT for more than seventeen years, starting as its founding Executive Director in 2001, before overseeing the grand opening of the facility in 2003. Edgar Miramontes, Associate Director at REDCAT, will assume additional duties of interim leadership until a permanent appointment is made.

A production directed by Glory Kadigan, revived and presented as part of the 57th season of LaMaMa - one of the original theaters of the Off-Off Broadway movement. The Grammy-nominated Western Wind vocal sextet will present O Western Wind… celebrating the 50th Anniversary of The Western Wind Vocal Ensemble which began in 1969.  The 50th Anniversary Gala Concert will be Saturday, March 23 at 8:00 pm at Merkin Concert Hall (129 West 67th Street, New York City). A Gala Reception at the hall will follow the concert. The event will honor the 50-year career of founding member and countertenor William Zukof, who will be stepping down from his singing role in August 2019. Voice artist Ju-eh and composer Hwarg present a brand-new work with powerful singing and delicate electronics that makes the art of opera directly relatable to your emotions and experiences: The Living Dying Opera.

UCLA's Center for the Art of Performance (CAP UCLA) presents Meredith Monk's Cellular Songs on Saturday, March 2, at 8 p.m. at Royce Hall.
