Mabou Mines will present preview performances of The Vicksburg Project, May 11 - 15, May 18 - 22, May 25 - 29, 2022 (at Mabou Mines, 150 1st Avenue, Second Floor, New York), in anticipation of its premiere at Harlem Stage in 2023.

Lee Breuer, one of the co-founders of Mabou Mines, and the writer of Broadway’s Pulitzer Prize finalist The Gospel at Colonus, passed away this past Sunday at the age of 83.

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that Lee Breuer, playwright and experimental theatre maker, passed away yesterday, January 3, 2021. He was 83 years old.

Mabou Mines has  announced the expansion of the funding allowing the company to honor three artists with the 2020 RUTH MALECZECH AWARD. The awardees are JOHN KELLY, JENNIFER KIDWELL AND SHEILA TOUSEY.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, just celebrated its 2020 TCG Gala: Our Stories, last night, February 3, 2020, at The Edison Ballroom. The Gala honored North Carolina Black Repertory Company's National Black Theatre Festival, based in Winston-Salem; playwright David Henry Hwang; and TCG's arts advocacy at the federal level. The evening included performances from A Strange Loop and Soft Power, and feature Billy Bustamante, James Jackson, Jr., and Alyse Alan Louis.

Actor/performer April Matthis is the recipient of the 2016 Ruth Maleczech Award, created last year to honor the memory of the legendary and beloved downtown actress and director who passed away in 2013. The award ceremony takes place tonight, July 26, at 7pm at the Howl! Happening: An Arturo Vega Project gallery in the East Village.
