Ambassador Theatre Group and NETworks Presentations LLC recently announced that Laura Michelle Kelly (Anna Leonowens) and Jose Llana (King of Siam) would lead the national tour of the Lincoln Center Theater production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's THE KING AND I. Kristin Chenoweth opened the NFL season by singing the national anthem at a New England Patriots versus the Arizona Cardinals game on September 11. Now, she's kicking off the North Jersey theater season with a concert at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown. Kristen admitted she likes to shake up her shows a bit. 'I never want to get bored myself,' she explained over the phone in a soft spoken voice. 'I want to keep looking in different directions and try some new songs.' (more...)

Joan Almedilla will play Lady Thiang with Brian Rivera as Kralahome, Manna Nichols as Tuptim, Kavin Panmeechao as Lun Tha, Anthony Chan as Prince Chulalongkorn, Graham Montgomery as Louis Leonowens and Baylen Thomas as Captain Orton/Sir Edward Ramsey. In the four seasons since the Broadway in New Orleans series first launched, Broadway and Television's brightest lights have blazed a path to the Big Easy each season thanks to Producing Artistic Director Mark Cortale and Sirius XM radio star Seth Rudetsky. In this, the series' fifth season in New Orleans, the star-powered tradition continues with Judy Kuhn, Tony-nominated star of "Fun Home" and Broadway's original Cosette in "Les Miserables" and the voice of Disney's "Pocahontas" on October 6 at 7:30 PM. She is followed by Gavin Creel, Olivier Award Winning star of She Loves Me and The Book of Mormon, on December 15 at 7:30 PM, and Adam Pascal, the original Roger in the Broadway blockbuster "Rent," as well as the London production, and the film version, on January 14, 2017 at 8:00 PM. It is an actor's intent as old as time not to become boxed into a certain type of role or performative style, be it the ingenue, the sassy sidekick, or the bad boy too smolderingly handsome for his own good (not the worst problem to have, frankly). One essential key to eluding that conundrum is the laser-sharp understanding of who you are as a performer, outside of a given character or show. So what happens, then, when actors known primarily for their roles in musical theatre take to the stage to perform purely as themselves? The question was answered at Feinstein's/54 Below's Broadway Sings Their Own concert on August 29, as eight vastly disparate performers stepped into the spotlight, each to perform two original songs they wrote themselves, stripped of characters to hide behind. The New York Empire presented by Citi today unveiled a diverse star-studded lineup of National Anthem singers for its inaugural Mylan World TeamTennis presented by GEICO season at the venerable Forest Hills Stadium at The West Side Tennis Club, the home of the US Open for over 60 years.
