Joey Folsom, Artistic Director of The Classics Theatre Project, today announced casting and the creative team for the first production of the 2019 season, Tennessee Williams' "Summer and Smoke." 

As temperatures around the country begin to rise and people yearn for the longer days ahead, viewers will enjoy an entire month of summer-inspired movies when Hallmark Channel premieres four all-new original movies in May. The programming event kicks off with 'A Paris Romance' (Saturday, May 4, 9 p.m. ET/PT) followed by 'A Feeling of Home' (working title) (Saturday, May 11, 9 p.m. ET/PT), and 'Sailing into Love' (Saturday, May 18, 9 p.m. ET/PT), and 'Love in the Sun' (Saturday, May 25, 9 p.m. ET/PT).'

The HBO Films presentation NATIVE SON, based on the classic novel by Richard Wright, will debut SATURDAY, APRIL 6 at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on HBO, it was announced today by Len Amato, president, HBO Films. Directed by first-time director and renowned visual artist Rashid Johnson from a screenplay by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks (“Topdog/Underdog”), the drama had its world premiere in January at the Sundance Film Festival.

One of the silver screen's most popular musicals, Singin' in the Rain comes to the stage of Woodbury's Arts Center of Cannon County with all the trappings of a box office smash: memorable score, talented actors and enough technical razzle-dazzle to delight even the most discerning of theater-goers. Opening February 8 (and continuing through February 23) at ACCC, the stage musical stars Austin Jeffrey Smith, Lindsey Mapes Duggin and Daxton Patrick in the film roles immortalized by Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Connor in the award-winning 1952 film version.

Theatre Odyssey's seventh annual Student Ten-Minute Playwriting Festival takes place on January 26 at 7:30 p.m. and January 27 at 2 p.m. at the Jane B. Cook Theatre at Asolo/FSU Center for the Performing Arts, 5555 North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. Eight plays will compete for Best Play and Runner-up awards decided by three adjudicators.

This September, The Firehouse Theatre will present Elton John and Time Rice's AIDA, directed by Artistic Director, Derek Whitener. The heart wrenching pop-rock musical about an imprisoned Nubian princess will open on September 7th in the old Farmers Branch Firehouse, with performances running through September 23rd. Tickets range from $13-$25.
