This year's star-studded Orchard Project Gala, A TASTE OF SOMETHING NEW, a star-studded celebration of the best of the new - from new food to new work - is set for May 1 at the Diamond Horseshoe in midtown Manhattan. The event, raising funds to expand Orchard Project's programming, will also honor acclaimed playwright, screenwriter, and Exchange Board Member Robert Schenkkan.

Powerful, poignant and timely as ever, LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS & McCOY RIGBY ENTERTAINMENT present the fourth show of its 2016-2017 season, the most acclaimed musical of all time, WEST SIDE STORY, book by Arthur Laurents, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, music by Leonard Bernstein with musical direction by Brent Crayon, choreography by John Todd and directed by Ovation award-winner Richard Israel.

The new musical, ANASTASIA, dances into Broadway's Broadhurst Theatre (235 West 44th Street) tonight, April 24, 2017, produced by Stage Entertainment, Bill Taylor (Sister Act, Rocky), Tom Kirdahy (It's Only A Play, The Visit) and Hunter Arnold (Kinky Boots, Spring Awakening). The Public Theater will kick off the 2017-18 season in September with a free Public Works musical adaptation of AS YOU LIKE IT, adapted by Shaina Taub and Laurie Woolery, with music and lyrics by Shaina Taub. Directed by Laurie Woolery, AS YOU LIKE IT will once again feature over 200 actors and community members alongside equity actors. The Martha Graham Dance Company's May GrahamDeconstructed event will focus on the Martha Graham Technique, Graham's codified physical vocabulary that has been compared to classical ballet in its scope.

Alison Cook Beatty Dance will perform a WORLD PREMIERE (Untitled) and MURMURATION featuring the music of Ottorino Respighi in an hour-long program. The performance will include one intermission following a discussion with the Artistic Director and several of the dancers about the creative process. Charlotte Benjamin, a talented guitarist will be featured throughout the evening.

Choreographer Jeanette Stoner, known for her very individual style of dance/theater, will present the world premiere of 'Into,' and repertory works, performed by an ensemble of veteran artists who have worked with the choreographer over the years.   Four performances, April 29-May 2 (Saturday through Tuesday) in the friendly Stoner Loft, 83 Leonard Street., 5th floor. 

The Deborah Zall Project will present a program of works by legendary modern dance choreographers Jane Dudley, Sophie Maslow and Anna Sokolow, along with dances by Deborah Zall, May 12 & 13 at 8 PM at the Martha Graham Studio Theater, 55 Bethune St. 

Alison Cook Beatty Dance, joined by guest artists of the New York City dance community, musical ensemble group Tenth Intervention, and composer Dorian Wallace, will perform a 20-minute excerpt of the Second Act of MAHAWAY: Spring Eternal within the Periapsis Open Series. Other collaborative artists on the program presenting work are: Julia Bengtsson with composer Charlotte Mundy, Belinda McGuire Dance Projects, and Barbara Gail Montero with composer Dmitri Tymoczko.
