Southern Rep Theatre Announces Their Seven Upcoming Productions For 2009-2010 Season

Artistic Director Aimée Hayes has announced the seven productions that make up Southern Rep Theatre's provocative new 2009/2010 Season - a mix of bold story-telling and innovative musical works, and the return of Southern Rep's new play festival, reborn as the SOUTHERN REP NEW PLAY BACCHANAL. As the Gulf Coast South's premiere professional theatre, Southern Rep's 23rd season includes two world premieres and five regional premieres. Following the critically acclaimed 2008/2009 season, it will focus on community partnerships with fellow arts organizations to embrace NOLA's own performing arts community.

Aurora Theatre Company has selected the directors for the company's fifth Global Age Project festival of new works:
Margo Hall - an award winning actor/director/playwright, Hall most recently directed The Story, by Tracy Scott-Wilson, a SF Playhouse/Lorraine Hansberry Co-Production, and Sonny's Blues, a story by James Baldwin, for Word for Word.

Playwrights Foundation (PF) welcomes an unprecedented group of national and regional playwrights and directors for the development of new works as part of the In The Rough Reading Series 2009, or ROUGH. This year's selections include: Meat by Samuel D. Hunter, directed by Mark Rucker; Language Rooms by Yussef El Guindi, directed by Mark Routhier; Job by Thomas Bradshaw, directed by Jonathan Spector; Defiant by George Brant, directed by Marissa Wolf; This Is Not a Torture or an Engine by Erin Bregman, directed by Molly Aaronson-Gelb; Assisted Living by Deirdre O'Connor, directed by Jon Tracy; Natasha and the Coat by Deborah Stein, directed by Sean Daniels; and The Verizon Play by Lisa Kron, directed by Amy Mueller. Readings will take place from Mar. 30 -- May 19, every Monday and Tuesday.
