Tippet Rise Art Center today announced the details of its digital summer event Tippet Rise on Tour: August Festival, which will premiere seven short performance films between August 19 and 22. The new films feature classical music performances captured at unusual locations across the country, from a tractor barn in Colorado and Ensamble Studio's Cyclopean House in Massachusetts to the Noguchi Museum in New York City.

Music Director and Roy and Lillie Cullen Chair, Andrés Orozco-Estrada returns to Houston in May to close out the 2020–21 Season with two magnificent Classical Series concerts featuring Mozart's Sinfonia concertante, K. 297b, E flat major and Piazzolla's Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas (Four Seasons of Buenos Aires), May 7–9; and a program of instantly recognizable and famous overtures including Mozart's Don Giovanni, Beethoven's Egmont, Mendelssohn's The Hebrides, and more, May 14–16.  And, for the first time, Orozco-Estrada will conduct the livestream of the BBVA Family Series, May 15 at 11 a.m.

The Houston Symphony debut of celebrated conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen highlights the orchestra's classical offerings in March, which also include Houston Symphony Principal Clarinet Mark Nuccio as soloist in Aaron Copland's Clarinet Concerto.

The Houston Symphony continues its Live from Jones Hall concert series, an hour-long, livestreamed concert at 8 p.m. CST each Saturday night, with four new programs for the month of August.

This week, the Houston Symphony launches its new Living Room Seriesa?"hour-long livestream recitals by the world-class musicians of the Houston Symphony, Friday nights at 8 p.m.

This February, the Houston Symphony, under the direction of Music Director Andrés Orozco-Estrada, presents a two-week, in-depth exploration of the life and works of the great German Romantic composer Robert Schumann. The Schumann Festival comprises not only full symphonic performances at Jones Hall, but also a recital, a lecture, chamber and vocal music concerts, and a gallery tour/performance in venues across Houston, making it an exceptionally immersive artistic experience.

Finnish conductor John Storgårds returns to the Houston Symphony to conduct Tchaikovsky's Pathétique and internationally recognized violinist Vadim Gluzman in the program Tchaikovsky's a?oePathétiquea?? at 8 p.m. Jan. 17 & 18 and 2:30 p.m. Jan. 19. This performance marks the North American premiere performances of Midnight Sun Variations, a new work dedicated to Storgårds by Finnish composer Outi Tarkiainen.

Music Director Andrés Orozco-Estrada and the Houston Symphony present the much-anticipated world premiere of Composer-in-Residence Jimmy López Bellido's Symphony No. 2, Ad Astra, at 8 p.m. Dec. 5 and 7, and 2:30 p.m. Dec. 8. Saturday night attendees are invited to stay late and enjoy a complimentary after-party featuring music, specialty cocktails, and mingling with musicians as part of the evening's post-concert activities.

Today, the Houston Symphony announced a four-concert chamber music series showcasing musicians of the orchestra and guest luminaries in intimate venues across Houston. The opening concert takes place at MATCH Box 4 featuring violin virtuoso Gil Shaham and Houston Symphony musicians in Brahms' Clarinet Quintet in B minor on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m.

The Houston Symphony and Music Director Andres Orozco-Estrada announced today details of the 2017-18 season, which marks Orozco-Estrada's fourth year as music director. Highlights of the season include the appointment of Peruvian-born composer Jimmy Lopez as the Houston Symphony's new Composer-in-Residence and the introduction of Ars Electronica Futurelab's musical visualization of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, an immersive concert experience directed by acclaimed choreographer Klaus Obermaier

The Houston Symphony announced today the international release of the orchestra's second commercial recording with Music Director Andres Orozco-Estrada, which features Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 6, Slavonic Dance Opus 72, No. 3 and Slavonic Dance Opus 46, No. 8. The recording is second in a mini-series from Dutch classical music label PENTATONE that highlights the Houston Symphony's interpretations of Dvorak's works, particularly the last four symphonies.

In the second year of a four-year partnership between Music Academy of the West and the New York Philharmonic, ten Academy musicians will travel to New York in January 2016 to participate in the New York Philharmonic Global Academy Fellowship Program (Jan 2-12), developing their career skills through what President and CEO of the Music Academy of the West Scott Reed called "an extraordinary opportunity to gain valuable experience alongside the musicians of one of the world's greatest orchestras."
