Tippet Rise Announces Four-Day Digital Summer Festival Featuring 7 New Short Films

Tippet Rise Art Center today announced the details of its digital summer event Tippet Rise on Tour: August Festival, which will premiere seven short performance films between August 19 and 22. The new films feature classical music performances captured at unusual locations across the country, from a tractor barn in Colorado and Ensamble Studio's Cyclopean House in Massachusetts to the Noguchi Museum in New York City.

Music Director and Roy and Lillie Cullen Chair, Andrés Orozco-Estrada returns to Houston in May to close out the 2020–21 Season with two magnificent Classical Series concerts featuring Mozart's Sinfonia concertante, K. 297b, E flat major and Piazzolla's Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas (Four Seasons of Buenos Aires), May 7–9; and a program of instantly recognizable and famous overtures including Mozart's Don Giovanni, Beethoven's Egmont, Mendelssohn's The Hebrides, and more, May 14–16.  And, for the first time, Orozco-Estrada will conduct the livestream of the BBVA Family Series, May 15 at 11 a.m.

Houston Symphony Releases Second Dvorák CD in Mini-Series

The Houston Symphony announced today the international release of the orchestra's second commercial recording with Music Director Andres Orozco-Estrada, which features Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 6, Slavonic Dance Opus 72, No. 3 and Slavonic Dance Opus 46, No. 8. The recording is second in a mini-series from Dutch classical music label PENTATONE that highlights the Houston Symphony's interpretations of Dvorak's works, particularly the last four symphonies.
