American Repertory Ballet to Host 'On Pointe' Event BEHIND THE MUSIC: STRAVINSKY'S FIREBIRD, 1/10

This spring 2014 season, American Repertory Ballet will present the premiere of Douglas Martin's Firebird, set to Stravinsky's dramatic score. At "Behind the Music: Stravinsky's Firebird", an On Pointe Enrichment Series event, ARB Artistic Director Douglas Martin and guest lecturer Maestro Michael Pratt will discuss this ballet's music and history. "Behind the Music" will be held on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 5:15pm at Princeton Ballet School (301 North Harrison Street, above McCaffrey's Supermarket).

Critically acclaimed Los-Angeles-based CONTRA-TIEMPO will present its work 'Full Still Hungry' at St. Marks Church-in-the-Bowery on January 12, 2014 at 4:00 pm. The performance marks the company's first New York City performance in five years, since Backstage named founder Ana Maria Alvarez 'a rising star of the dance world.'

Met Museum Presents and Gotham Chamber Opera presents a double bill co-produced with and staged at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, consisting of Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda by Monteverdi, and a newly commissioned work, I Have No Stories to Tell You, by Gotham Chamber Opera Composer-In-Residence Lembit Beecher, on February 26 and February 27, 2014 at 7pm at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1000 Fifth Avenue (at 82nd Street), NYC. Company XIV Extends NUTCRACKER ROUGE Off-Broadway Through 1/12

Company XIV and The Saint At Large are announcing a one week extension for the critically acclaimed New York Premiere of Nutcracker Rouge, conceived, directed and choreographed by Austin McCormick, with a script adapted and written by Jeff Takacs. Nutcracker Rouge's Off-Broadway run began on November 30, 2013 and now extends with six added performances through January 12, 2014 at the Minetta Lane Theatre, located at 18 Minetta Lane between MacDougal Street and 6th Avenue in New York City. The show officially opened on December 4.

For this performance, Pacific Chorale's Artistic Director John Alexander leads the orchestra, chorale and esteemed vocal soloists Lauren Snouffer, soprano; Meg Bragle, mezzo-soprano; I-Chin Feinblatt, alto; Thomas Cooley, tenor; William Berger, baritone; and The All American Boys Chorus for an inspiring and rousing musical experience.
