Go inside Come From Away: The Concert Steele Community Centre in Gander and September 19-21 at the Mary Brown's Centre in St. John's, which brought home the musical about the small Canadian town that temporarily doubled in population in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and tells the real-life stories of the people from there, and those who came from away.

In July 2009, in the backroom of a narrow shop, two young, first-time playwrights performed their first musical at the Toronto Fringe. The show had a quirky title that immediately got it attention. When the first audiences saw it, they knew they were witnessing something unique from writers who had a very promising future. The show became a Fringe sensation. Four months later, David Mirvish, the largest Canadian commercial theatre producer, presented a longer vision of the show at the 700-seat Panasonic Theatre (now the CAA Theatre), where it was extended five times. The CBC reports that tickets for the COME FROM AWAY concert performances sold out in record time, with both a wait to purchase online, as well as lines around the block at the Holy Heart Theatre in St. John's, Newfoundland.

The made-in-Canada phenomenon that is COME FROM AWAY is coming to St. John's. The show that has become the toast of Broadway and Toronto, will play eight benefit performances in a concert version at Holy Heart Theatre from January 23 to 27, 2019. Tickets will go on sale Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 10 AM (NDT) exclusively through Holy Heart Theatre ticket channels.
