What a splendid title for a Christmas Concert! It has been a while since Caspar Richter conducted the VBW Musical Christmas Concerts, something everyone was looking forward to, a highlight of the festive season. Christmas without a Musical Concert wouldn't be the same. It must have been last year, during a conversation with Mr. Richter about Musical Christmas and the possibility of creating something like this at the Vindobona.

If you are familiar with the work of Georgia Stitt ( married to a guy called Robert Jason Brown), you don't need further explanation, if not, read carefully. Georgia Stitt (Music) together with Marcy Heisler (Lyrics) created the cycle originally based on Heisler's poems. Five songs, five women, five different stories, five soliloquies, each and every one framed with some fine emotional tunes. Stitt's and Heisler's collaboration gifted us with a bittersweet masterpiece. You can feel the gentle side of New York City in the ALPHABET CITY CYCLE. Ludovico Lucchesi Palli, (Producer and Host) got his hands on a copy of the 2009 recording with Kate Baldwin. He, to no surprise, fell in love with the material and decided to bring it on stage (or due to COVID19 on screen) and present Stitt's work to the german speaking musical Universe.

Frank Wildhorn and more than sixty members of the Wildhorn Musical family simultaneously world premiered a video featuring 53 singers from 12 countries, representing 17 of his musicals, performing the powerful, “Finding Wonderland,” from the Broadway musical, Wonderland on Friday, July 10th at 9am ET. 

Frank Wildhorn, the American composer, and eighty members of the Wildhorn Musical family will simultaneously world premiere a video featuring 53 singers from 12 countries, representing 17 of his musicals, performing the powerful, 'Finding Wonderland,' from the Broadway Musical, Wonderland. Wildhorn, who has been posting popular 'Living Room Concerts,' brought together stars including Jeremy Jordan, Laura Osnes, Capathia Jenkins, Constantine Maroulis, amongst the cast from across the globe to support The World Health Organization's Covid19 Response Fund (covid19responsefund.org), the only global organization with a reach as wide as that of the cast on the video, while providing a musical love letter to the world at this unprecedented and unpredictable time.

Dear diary, the virus ( from this day on I refuse to say the name of the virus out loud like Harry Potter has done it with Vo.... you know who) is still dancing through our lives and got mostly everything on hold. Our way back to (next to) normal is like a bus ride down a bumpy long road into the unknown. (sorry not sorry for the catchy tune) Since the world is in a Lockdown for quite a while, we got used to wearing masks in public and dressing up properly for Home Office Video Conferences. Here might be another great opportunity to dress up. Robino Rich, well know TV-Host (Backstage reports for DISNEY, STAGE ENTERTAINMENT, and others) and Youtuber, presents a 90 Minute Musical Concert called RICHIE'S MUSICAL SHOW with the likes of Anja Backus, Gino Emnes, Richard Fuchs, Lisa Antoni, Maren Somberg, Marcella Adema, Maricel Wölk, Ornella de Santis, Raphael Groß, and Yvonne Köstler. The concert will take place on June 7th, at 7 p.m. CEST on Youtube. Barbara Obermeier (Jellylorum/US Grizabella) and Stefan Konrad (Chairman of Nestwärme Austria) came up with the idea about doing a charity concert as a kickstart for NESTWÄRME in Austria after they ran into each other on the street. As Mondays are OFF-Days for Musical Actors in Vienna, there might be no better day to gather together some fine voices. Spending their only day off doing a concert for a good cause is something you never can take for granted. Obermeier and Konrad brought together an A-List of Top Acts, a few of them sadly had to cancel their performance due to sickness. Instead of cutting the set-list short, others took over some songs on a very short term. Charity Events are sometimes badly rehearsed and poorly staged. It takes a lot of tact and sensitivity and the right bunch of people when you want to create a night to remember. Konrad narrated through the evening with comedy and class. A first-class Conférencier who knows how to flirt with his audience in a charming way.

Leonard Bernsteins WEST SIDE STORY zahlt zu den Klassikern des Musicalrepertoires. Die Geschichte um zwei Banden in Amerika basiert auf William Shakespeares Drama um Romeo und Julia und ist bis heute zeitlos. Zwischen Spannung und Ruhrung vereint Bernsteins die Perspektiven der unterschiedlichen Kulturen und Generationen in seiner Musik. Regisseurin und Choreographin Melissa King bringt die WEST SIDE STORY unter der Musikalischen Leitung von Chefdirigent Otto Tausk auf die Buhne des Theaters St.Gallen. Die Premiere in St. Gallen, mit Lisa Antoni und Andreas Bongard in den Hauptrollen fand am vergangenen Samstag statt. Weitere Vorstellungen finden noch bis zum 1. Juni statt. Die Kritiker zeigten sich begeistert von dieser explosiven Inszenierung, die gerade heute wieder hochaktuell ist.

Im neuen Konzertformat „The Frank Wildhorn Songbook" lasst Thomas Borchert am 21. Marz 2016 im Theater Akzent in Wien seine großen Buhnenerfolge in den Musicals des weltbekannten Komponisten Revue passieren - und das in großen Blocken, die die Songs in einen dramaturgischen Kontext setzen. Naturlich gibt es auch Auszuge aus „Artus - Excalibur", Thomas Borcherts aktuellem Engagement in einem Frank Wildhorn-Musical, aber auch musikalische Überraschungen und seltene Songperlen aus Musicals wie „Bonnie & Clyde", „The Civil War", „Rudolf - Affaire Mayerling", "The Scarlet Pimpernel" und „Wonderland".

Anlasslich des 25-jahrigen Bestehens des VBW-Orchesters und 24 Jahre nach seiner Deutschsprachigen Erstauffuhrung durch die Vereinigten Buhnen Wien holt nun Intendant Christian Struppeck das beruhmteste Musical der Welt ins RONACHER: In Form einer konzertanten Auffuhrung kehrt DAS PHANTOM DER OPER am 29. November 2012 fur nur zehn Termine nach Wien zuruck.

Tony and Grammy nominated composer Frank Wildhorn, who, in 1999, had three shows running on Broadway simultaneously (J&H, SP, and TCW), is about to duplicate that feat in Europe, with three new original musicals.
