An eager and enthusiastic crowd of 2,800+ filed into the Connor Palace this evening to be among the first in the country to hear the lineup of hit shows coming to Cleveland as part of Playhouse Square's 2016-2017 KeyBank Broadway Series. Tonight's event included performances from the Broadway smash hit FINDING NEVERLAND, and the 2015 Tony Award winner for Best Musical, FUN HOME, which announced it will be opening its national tour right here in Cleveland. The Lyric Stage Company of Boston's 2015-16 Season continues April 8 with MR. BURNS, a post-electric play by Anne Washburn, with a score by Michael Friedman and lyrics by Anne Washburn. Directed by A. Nora Long, the production also features music director Allyssa Jones and choreographer Yo-El Cassell. MR. BURNS runs through May 7, 2016, with the official opening slated for April 10. Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) and Columbia University School of the Arts (Carol Becker, Dean of Faculty) have just announced Columbia@Roundabout, an initiative aimed at educating and developing the next generation of playwrights and theatre administrators, as both institutions celebrate their 50th anniversaries. No other collaborative partnership in the New York area brings together an esteemed Ivy League MFA program with a Tony Award- winning not-for-profit theatre.
