The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, the second show of the 2023 season at the Alhambra Theatre and Dining, opened on February 10th. The audience observed wonderful storytelling as the actors revealed how “The Chicken Ranch” got its start and was ultimately shut down when it was revealed to be a brothel of sorts.

Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre has announced the cast and creative team for their 'Hard Candy Christmas' holiday hoedown production of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. The award-winning musical comedy later adapted into the cult film starring Dolly Parton will play at Theo's Howard Street Theatre December 2, 2022 through January 29, 2023.

This charming, fun-loving musical by Carol Hall, Larry L. King and Peter Masterson, based loosely on the real-life Chicken Ranch in La Grange, Texas, recounts the story of Miss Mona's cozy little brothel that was popular with senators, mayors and football teams and protected by the local sheriff, Ed Earl Dodd. Times are good for Miss Mona's Girls until a TV evangelist's cameras and righteous indignation interfere. The lively tale is told with a bit of bawdy humor and high-energy production numbers, with sweet ballads and sentimentality thrown in, and is meant for mature audiences but as Miss Mona says, a?oethere's nothing dirty going on.a??

THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS features a book by Larry L. King and Peter Masterson, and music and lyrics by Carol Hall. 42nd Street Moon's production runs from October 3 - 21, 2018 and will perform at San Francisco's Gateway Theatre (formerly the Eureka Theatre). Carollo and Daniel Thomas, Co-Executive Directors), currently celebrating its 25thAnniversary in continuous operation, has announced the show titles for its upcoming 2018-2019 season. The 2018-2019 season will include THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS (October 3 - 21, 2018), DAMES AT SEA (November 28 - December 16, 2018), FIORELLO! (February 27 - March 17, 2019), 110 IN THE SHADE(April 24 - May 12, 2019), ONCE (June 12 - 30, 2019) and THE OLDEST LIVING CATER WAITER (performances begin June 23, 2019).

The TexARTS Professional Series presents The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, the spirited musical comedy that recounts the heyday and demise of the infamous "Chicken Ranch."  The musical by Larry L. King and Peter Masterson with music and lyrics by Carol Hall plays August 18 - September 3, 2017 at the Kam & James Morris Theatre in Lakeway.

Dramatists Guild Fund President Andrew Lippa and Executive Director Rachel Routh have just unveiled highlights from the nonprofit's Benefit Gala Great Writers Thank Their Lucky Stars: The Presidential Edition which was held on November 7th at Gotham Hall in New York.

This particular production is winner. There's plenty to enjoy about The Playhouse's production of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. The campy, over-the-top farce is wildly entertaining, and overall it's a feast for the eyes and ears.

A new book tells the true story of the infamous brothel that inspired the hit Broadway musical.

As BroadwayWorld reported last week, Rob Ashford just directed a private industry reading of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas with an all-star cast, including Broadway favorite Kristen Chenoweth. Now according to her recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, the show might go on to have a life on Broadway. She explains: 'I think there is financing in place and I think it has to be a decision we can make and I have another show that I'm involved with about Tammy Faye Bakker. It's all about timing.'
