Carnegie Hall will continue its summertime tradition, shining a spotlight on 200+ extraordinary teen musicians from across the country with concerts by the Hall’s three acclaimed national youth ensembles—the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America, NYO2, and NYO Jazz.

SuperBlue: The Iridescent Spree sees Elling and Hunter reunited with drummer Corey Fonville and multi-instrumentalist DJ Harrison (both of jazz-funk fusion quintet Butcher Brown) for a kaleidoscopic collection of new songs, dynamic reinventions, and surprising covers (Joni Mitchell’s “Black Crow.'

Signature Theatre announces that Signature favorites Awa Sal Secka (Gun and Powder, Blackbeard) and Shayla S. Simmons (After Midnight, Dreamgirls) will perform in Soul Divas Reprise, inspired by the sold-out cabaret from 2019 dedicated to the music of acclaimed musical divas from Aretha to Whitney to Tina. The cabaret will be music directed by Mark G. Meadows, Signature's Director of Cabarets. Soul Divas Reprise runs June 27 – July 9 in Signature's ARK Theatre.

At its upcoming 2023 Commencement exercises, Columbia College Chicago will confer honorary degrees on long-time Chicago Tribune theatre critic Chris Jones and former faculty member and decorated jazz artist Bobbi Wilsyn. The honorary degree recipients will address graduates and their families at the college's four Commencement ceremonies, with Chris Jones speaking at two ceremonies on Saturday, May 13, and Bobbi Wilsyn at two ceremonies on Sunday, May 14.

Multi-GRAMMY award-winning vocalist Kurt Elling and guitarist/producer Charlie Hunter announced SuperBlue: The Iridescent Spree, a new full-length album featuring drummer Corey Fonville and bassist-keyboardist DJ Harrison. “Not Here / Not Now' has composition by Elling, Hunter, Fonville, and Harrison and additional lyricist Phil Galdston.
