Artists Repertory Theatre is partnering with local arts advocacy non-profit Isinglass to offer Egg, the organization's three year-old summer theatre leadership academy. Egg is an intensive seven-week program that teaches high school students the art and business of producing their own theatrical production. This summer 2017 program concludes with a week-long planning session for students to develop theatre and arts advocacy projects which they implement in their own schools during the following school year. Twenty Chicago high school students will once again compete in the finals of the August Wilson Monologue Competition for a chance to represent Chicago in the National Competition at the August Wilson Theatre in New York City.  Hundreds of students competed across the city in preliminary rounds. The finals will be held at the Goodman Theatre, 170 N. Dearborn St on Monday, March 6, 2017 at6:00 pm. The August Wilson Monologue Competition is free and open to the public. (more...)

Artistic Director Kenny Leon and True Colors Theatre Company are proud to announce their 2017-2018 15th anniversary season of 'Truth & Clarity.'  The season of award winning plays and Atlanta premieres, opens in September 2017 with the Regional Premiere of the Broadway musical, Holler If Ya Hear Me featuring music by Tupac Shakur, written by Todd Kriedler, and directed by Kenny Leon. In February 2018, True Colors will produce the Tony Award winning drama King Hedley II by August Wilson directed by Jamil Jude. The season will close in July with the Southeastern premiere of the critically acclaimed play Dot by Colman Domingo, directed by Kenny Leon.  (more...)
