Keith David Comes to Carnegie Hall, the Cotton Club, 6/23 & 6/25

For those of you lucky enough to be in New York, actor and singer Keith David will be performing twice next week. He will be at Carnegie Hall on June 23rd for The Black Stars of The Great White Way Broadway Reunion. This will be an all-male tribute that honors a multitude of jazz musicians such as Luis Jordan, Fats Waller, Louis Armstrong, and others. The concert celebrates the artists' successes at Carnegie Hall, Broadway, television, and the international touring circuit, as well as in the recording and film industries. The Guthrie Theater and The Acting Company (TAC) reunite for a sixth year, presenting Hamlet, Shakespeare's story of a Danish prince's search for vengeance, justice and truth, in repertory with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, a reworking of the same tragedy from the point of view of two minor characters and their static existence in a world beyond their comprehension. This two-week engagement today, April 22 - May 4, on the McGuire Proscenium Stage, will conclude a successful seven-month 42-city tour, during which time these productions played to thousands of adults and students in large and small markets around the United States. Both Hamlet and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead will showcase the talents of graduates of the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater B.F.A. Brown) announced today that Phillip Hayes Dean's (Drama Desk-winner for The Sty of the Blind Pig) powerful and moving play PAUL ROBESON has been extended by popular demand for three more performances and will now play through Sunday, April 27, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. The production, directed by Mr. Dean, stars two-time Emmy Award-winner Keith David (Fox's new series Enlisted) with accompaniment by pianist/musical director Byron J. Smith (working with numerous artists including Wynton Marsalis, Barbra Streisand, BeBe Winans).
