The Production Company's Managing Director of the 2014 Reading Series, Dean Farell Bruggeman, and Artistic Directors August Viverito and T L Kolman proudly announce the third selection for the company's new-play-reading series with Ed Graczyk's beautiful The Blue Moon Dancing, directed by David Youse. The reading takes place at our new studio space, dubbed The Production Company Workspace, at 14731 Oxnard St., Van Nuys, CA 91411, on Sunday, April 27 @ 7 pm, and Monday, April 28 @ 8 PM. When most Kansas Citians hear the word 'scout,' they picture the large statue in Penn Valley Park. But another famous 'scout' comes to Kansas City's Jewish Community Center next month when the White Theatre presents the play To Kill A Mockingbird. Mary Badham, who played Scout in the 1962 film version, will be in Kansas City for this weekend's April 5th and 6th performances. (more...)

Julian Fleisher to Release FINALLY, 5/13

New York City's favorite multi-hypenate, Julian Fleisher, is Finally done with his new album and he's ready for the world to hear it. On May 13, 2014 Julian will release Finally on Modern Records and he's partnered up with Out Magazine to premiere his first single, the album's title track and also the song that means the most to Julian. Of the song, he says, 'I think I wrote 'Finally' when a friend was over for lunch when I was sick. While we chatted, I had the guitar under my arm and I was absentmindedly picking away as we talked.' He goes on, 'I couldn't begin to tell you what we discussed, but by the time lunch was over, the song was halfway done. Written while flying on Robitussin, espresso, chicken soup and Advil.' Julian will be celebrating the release of Finally with an album release show at Joe's Pub on May 14, 2014. (more...)

Richard Ridge, lead correspondent for the popular theatrical web site Broadway World, will host the 45th Anniversary Gala for Amas Musical Theatre, New York City's award-winning pioneer in diversity and multi-ethnic casting in the performing arts since 1968, on Monday, March 31st, 2014 at the Baruch Performing Arts Center (East 25th Street between Lexington and 3rd Avenues). Adam Shankman has been announced as the director and choreographer of the Hollywood Bowl's upcoming production of HAIR, which won the Tony and Drama Desk Award for best revival of a musical in 2009. Shankman is an Emmy-nominated director and choreographer who recently directed and choreographed the film adaptations of Hairspray and Rock of Ages; directed episodes of Glee and Modern Family, as well as Prop 8: The Musical; and was the producer for the Step Up movies.
