Sunday, September 23rd marked the 60th anniversary of Richard Nixon's political game-changing 'Checkers speech,' and today, September 24th at 10 a.m. tickets go on sale for the Vineyard Theatre's world-premiere production of CHECKERS, a play by Douglas McGrath about Nixon, his wife Pat and that historic speech. CHECKERS is directed by Terry Kinney. Preview performances begin at The Vineyard (108 E. 15 St.) on October 12; October 31 is opening night. Vineyard Theatre will open its 30th Anniversary season with the world premiere production of Douglas McGrath's play CHECKERS. Preview performances begin on October 12th, and opening night is set for October 28th. The production will be directed by Terry Kinney, it has been announced by The Vineyard's Artistic Director Douglas Aibel and Co-Artistic Director Sarah Stern.

HardSparks, a New York City-based theater company, presented the first in a series of site-specific performances of new plays to take place in Southampton. SparkHampton: The Wickapogue Plays featured work by Crystal Skillman (Cut, Wild), J.Stephen Brantley (Eightythree Down, Blood Grass), and Daniel Talbott (Slipping, Yosemite), who also directed the three pieces. Atlantic Theater Company opened the world premiere production of STOREFRONT CHURCH, written and directed by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award® winner John Patrick Shanley, on Monday night, June 11 at the Linda Gross Theater. The production will run through July 1, 2012.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater Extends YOSEMITE For Four Additional Performances

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater announced today that its production of Yosemite, a new play written by Daniel Talbott will play four additional performances (through March 3rd). Performances began on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 and the show enjoyed an official opening night on Thursday, January 26th. Originally scheduled to run through Sunday, February 26th, Yosemite will now play through Saturday, March 3rd at Rattlestick Theater (224 Waverly Place - off Seventh Avenue South, between Perry & West 11th Streets).
