To say that last week's American Idol elimination was a shocker is the understatement of the century. In fact, Pia Toscano's untimely departure from the show seems to have left a bad taste in the mouths of Idol fans everywhere, with Pia being the subject of talk show chats and internet gossip all week. I for one, won't cease missing watching her on a weekly basis anytime soon. (more...)

It seems too early in the competition for the finalists of American Idol to be so universally outstanding. Sure, last night's performances included both highs and lows, and true I'm attached to some of the competitors more than others. Quite frankly, I find it highly unusual that the top 9 are as polished as they are. Perhaps it's a reflection of the show's new mentors and/or judges? (more...)

Billie Joe Armstrong Returns to AMERICAN IDIOT Tonight

The producers of the critically acclaimed AMERICAN IDIOT previously announced that Green Day frontman and the musical's composer and co-author Billie Joe Armstrong would return to the role of "St. Jimmy" on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 for the final three weeks of the Broadway production at the St. James Theatre, 246 West 44 Street. Following 421 performances on Broadway and 27 previews, the final show is Sunday, April 24, 2011 at 7:30pm. The first national tour launches in the fall of 2011. (more...)

Direct from Broadway's American Idiot, American Idol's Justin Guarini and MTV's Paul Iacono (star of the hit series 'The Hard Times of RJ Berger') will star in Jonathan Larson's landmark rock musical RENT at Surflight Theatre in Beach Haven, NJ, from May 28 through June 19. Opening Night is scheduled for Saturday, May 28 at 8:00pm. Celebrating its 62nd Season of Broadway by the Beach, Surflight Theatre, a Jersey Shore entertainment destination for over 60 years, is now under the leadership of Producer and Surflight alum Roy Miller. The cast recording of Lincoln Center Theater's production of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, the new musical based on the film by Pedro Almodóvar, with book by Jeffrey Lane, music and lyrics by David Yazbek and direction by Bartlett Sher, will be released on May 10, 2011 according to Amazon.com. The cast reunited on January 19, to record the original cast recording of the musical, which ended its limited engagement run on Sunday, January 2 at the Belasco Theatre. The CD, to be released by Ghostlight Records and will be produced by David Yazbek and Dean Sharenow with Kurt Deutsch serving as Executive Producer. (more...)
