by Matt Tamanini - Jun 19, 2014

This week's SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE marked the end of an era. After an all too short month, DANCE fans bid a fond(?) adieu to Justin Bieber and his choreographer Nick DeMoura, who introduced their final Dance Crew Battle. TAIKOPROJECT Hosts Taiko Nation Percussion Concert, 7/19 - 7/20
by BWW News Desk - Jun 11, 2014

Thrilling, heart pounding and joyous percussion are the hallmark of taiko, and the best is in store when the world's top taiko ensembles and performers converge on L.A.'s Little Tokyo for an exhilarating three-concert event. Taiko Nation is set to electrify audiences July 19 and July 20 at the Aratani/Japan America Theatre. The other gods could not help but join in, dancing and singing joyously, and Amaterasu brought her light back to the world. (more...)

SYTYCD Recap: Was This the Best Audition Show Ever?
by Matt Tamanini - Jun 04, 2014

I have to admit, the So You Think You Can Dance auditions are not my favorite part of the show. While I still love seeing all of the talented performers, I far prefer the long-form, fully-realized numbers that we get on the live shows compared to the 30 seconds of solos we get during auditions. That being said, when Nigel Lythgoe took to Twitter this week and said that this week's audition episode might be the best in the show's history, I was intrigued. (more...)

A highlight was the sale of a gilded woolly mammoth skeleton in a colossal steel and glass vitrine, created by renowned artist Damien Hirst. Titled Gone but not Forgotten, the three-meter tall Mammuthus Primigenius, which became extinct over 10,000 years ago, fetched a record $15 million. This was the highest grossing lot in amfAR's history.
