LA Phil Live to Air in Select South American Theaters; John Lithgow to Host Broadcasts

The Los Angeles Philharmonic (LA Phil) and Omniverse Vision Ltd. announced today that the February 18 performance featuring world-renowned Music Director Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Phil, LA Phil LIVE: Dudamel conducts Mahler 8, "Symphony of a Thousand," will be broadcast live and delayed in movie theaters in Argentina, Brazil and Colombia. This never-before-seen broadcast from Caracas, Venezuela, showcases Dudamel leading the two organizations that have been so prominent in his life, the LA Phil and the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, in a dynamic performance of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 8, "Symphony of a Thousand."

The Dicapo Opera Theatre presented a glittering all Puccini program to celebrate the composer's 150th birthday at Lincoln Center's Rose Theater. The program featured arias and scenes from all of Puccini's operas- from LeVilli through the last music he composed and orchestrated for Turandot- including the Opening Act II of Edgar, and selections from both the Brescia and La Scala versions of Madama Butterfly.
