On Wednesday, September 28th the League of Professional Theatre Women will kick-off the fifteen-month celebration of their 30th Anniversary with a special event, TURNING 30, in Duffy Square at 11am. Co-hosted by Sirius/XM Radio's Julie James & Off-Broadway's Christine Pedi, the event will feature appearances by Emmy Award-winning actress/comedian Judy Gold (The Judy Show) & the Mamma Mia! 'Dynamos,' Carol Linnea Johnson, Corinne Melançon & Stacia Fernandez. Also attending will be some of LPTW 30th Anniversary Leading Ladies: Ruby Dee, Eve Ensler, Rosemary Harris, LaChanze, Elizabeth McCann, Estelle Parsons, Chita Rivera & Fran Weissler.

After a successful run earlier this summer at the PIT (People's Improv Theatre), ALKY: only the luckiest victims die is back! ALKY is a real teen drinking drama workshopped in Christian schools in the 80s in Texas and we perform it with twistedly funny adults who are 'under the influence'. Come see Ms. O'Hara and the Marumsco Valley Players perform Jerome McDonough's hard-hitting teen drama, ALKY, while they try to hold their liquor.

Florida's Mount Dora High School has been getting a lot of extra attention in the past few weeks. Last month. One of their teachers, Jerry Buell took to his Facebook page after seeing a news story about marriage equality in New York. His status update said that he 'nearly threw up' upon hearing about the state's decision to allow gays and lesbians to marry.

In the interest of letting LGBT students at Mt. Dora H.S. know they are supported in their academic environment, a Change.org petition was launched by Jamie McGonnigal to get Mr. Buell's colleagues to put together an 'It Gets Better' video.

In honor of her recent extension at Off-Broadway's DR 2 Theatre, Judy Gold, star of The Judy Show - My Life As A Sitcom, visited the NASDAQ MarketSite in New York City's Times Square to ring the Opening Bell on Tuesday morning, August 16th. Introduced by David Wicks, VP, NASDAQ OMX, Judy rang the opening bell surrounded by friends and colleagues as the ceremony was broadcast onto the NASDAQ jumbo-tron in Times Square.
