Steven Weber, Jonathan Cake join Matthew Broderick in the Roundabout Theater Company revival of 'The Philanthropist.' Weber will play a friend of the leading character portrayed by Broderick in Christopher Hampton's 1970 take on 'The Misanthrope,' while Cake will play a writer. Anna Madeley is the female lead, reprising a role she played in the 2005 staging of the play at the Donmar Warehouse. Tate Ellington, Jennifer Mudge and Samantha Soule complete the rest of the casting. The cast met the press at at The American Airlines Theatre Penthouse in New York City. The 20th Anniversary revival of David Mamet's Speed-The-Plow opened last night, October 23rd at the ETHEL BARRYMORE THEATRE (located at 243 West 47th St.) after beginning previews on Friday, October 3, 2008. The main stage season at the Linda Gross Theater will mark premieres from Academy Award® winning filmmakers Ethan Coen and Martin McDonagh, who return to the Atlantic stage, and the debut of young playwright and screenwriter Beau Willimon.

On Wednesday June 11, 2008 the Theatre World Awards for Outstanding Broadway or Off-Broadway Debut performances during the 2007-2008 theatrical season took place. The awards were presented by former Theatre World Award winners, including: Alec Baldwin (Loot, 1986), Griffin Dunne (Search and Destroy, 1992), Alexander Gemignani (Assassins, 2004), Andrea Martin (My Favorite Year, 1993), Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights, 2007), Rosie Perez (References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot, 2001), and B.D. On April 2nd, 2008 'Almost an Evening' opened on Bleecker Street. Ethan Coen's series of three one act plays unsuccessfully tackle important questions: Waiting - Someone waits somewhere for quite some time. Four Benches - His voyage to self-discovery takes a British intelligence agent to steam baths in New York and Texas, and to park benches in the U.S. And U.K. Debate - Cosmic questions are taken up. Not much is learned.
