Cleveland native Jim Brickman is a worldwide sensation with his soulful piano playing.  His simplistic song style has won the hearts of many, and has kept his music on the top of the charts across the country and the world.  In May, he will be coming back to Canton to join the CSO for one special night for their Benefit Concert.  The concert begins with the generosity of the CSO musicians, who are donating their services for the rehearsal and performance.  Concert proceeds will support the Canton Symphony Orchestra Endowment - ensuring the future of Stark County's flagship arts organization. And the first installment will feature series curator (and part time Catskill resident) Tom Andersen himself in an exhilarating evening of tunes from the Great American Songbook, Broadway, Country Music, and his own teeming and talented brain called 'My Favorite Sings'. And to give the evening an even more distinctive 'local' twist, Mr. Andersen will be joined onstage by Jumbo Bungalow - the husband-and-wife team of Catskill ukulele virtuoso extraordinaire Carmen Borgia and BST's own resident diva (and star of their production of SOUVENIR) Alison Davy. The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts celebrates the musical legacy of Henry Mancini, one of the world's greatest composers, conductors and arrangers, on Saturday, April 1, 2017. From 'Moon River' to 'The Days of Wine and Roses' to the 'Peter Gunn Theme,' the music of Henry Mancini has helped define American film and television soundtracks for nearly five decades, and earned the legendary composer four Academy Awards, twenty Grammy Awards and numerous other honors, including a U.S. Postage Stamp. The evening not only honors Henry Mancini, but also celebrates Ginny Mancini and the Mancini family with a special performance by the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami-their first Los Angeles appearance since their move to Florida-with all proceeds benefiting the artistic, educational and outreach programs of The Wallis.
