The Long Beach Playhouse celebrates its 85th anniversary by recreating a Stage Door Canteen event.

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will celebrate the life and career of legendary actress Lauren Bacall with a 24-hour marathon of memorable performances, including all four films in which she co-starred with husband Humphrey Bogart.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, David James Elliott is set to take on the role of John Wayne in the upcoming indie biopic TRUMBO, helmed by Jay Roach. Peter Mackenzie is also boarding the pic.

The "Pirate" films come later, with 'The Crimson Pirate' and 'The Black Pirate' on August 3 and 10 at 8:30p.m. In the fall, on October 19 at 8:00p.m., the final day of the Cape May Film Festival, it's an evening of spooky classic silent short films.

Astoria, New York, June 18, 2014—Museum of the Moving Image announces its major film series and exhibitions for the summer. Highlights include a new exhibition and accompanying film series exploring the work of the legendary animation director Chuck Jones(opening July 19), films by Gustav Deutsch (July 25–27), See It Big! Hollywood Melodrama (August 2–31), films by Hong Kong producer, director, and actor Patrick Lung Kong, with Lung Kong and Tsui Hark in person (August 15–24), and a complete retrospective of Taiwanese director Hou Hsiao-hsien (beginning September 12). This Saturday, June 21st Fran Drescher hosts her annual wellness brunch fundraiser for her organization Cancer Schmancer at Tavern on the Green at 11 am. Brunch is followed by a 2 pm performance of Cinderella, the Broadway production in which Drescher stars as the Wicked Stepmother.
