2011 Dora Mavor Moore Award Winners Announced

The 32nd Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards for the 2010/2011 season were handed out in a star-studded ceremony in Toronto on the evening of Monday, June 27 at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts' Bluma Appel Theatre, co-hosted by Gemini-nominated comedian/writer/actor Craig Lauzon of CBC-TV's Royal Canadian Air Farce and actress Michaela Washburn, Dora-nominated for her principal role in Theatre Passe Muraille's Such Creatures.

At a press conference held June 7 at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts, the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) announced 171 nominations for 197 eligible productions that opened between June 1, 2010 and May 31, 2011 for the 32nd annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards which honour excellence in the performing arts in Toronto.

The Moth Theatre has announced the world premiere of The Quarry, a new play written and directed by Moth artistic director John Markland, with one preview performance on Friday, October 15 and opening on Saturday, October 16 at 8pm. The engagement will run through November 14 only.

West Palm Beach's Palm Beach Dramaworks, will launch its 11th Anniversary Season with 'Candida,' the acclaimed play by the Nobel Prize winning playwright George Bernard Shaw on Friday, October 8th (8PM) at their downtown theatre (322 Banyan Boulevard.) Special priced preview performances are slated for October 6th & 7th (8PM) and the production will play through November 21st.

West Palm Beach's only resident professional theatre, Palm Beach Dramaworks will kick off its 11th Anniversary season with George Bernard Shaw's play 'Candida' on Friday, October 8th (8PM) at their intimate downtown theatre (322 Banyan Boulevard). The season will continue with a distinguished roster of plays including the southeast premiere of 'Freud's Last Session' by Mark St. Germain, 'Dinner With Friends' by Donald Margulies and 'The Beauty Queen of Leenane' by Martin McDonagh.

The Board of Trustees of the Princess Grace Foundation- USA and its Chairman, Hon. John F. Lehman, announced today winners of the 2009 Princess Grace Awards. The Awards for theater, dance and choreography, and film continue the legacy of Princess Grace (Kelly) of Monaco, who anonymously helped emerging artists pursue their goals during Her lifetime.
