Submissions Accepted For the 2015 Prix Ars Electronica Prize; Deadline 3/6

The Prix Ars Electronica has begun accepting entries. The deadline is March 6th. This year's competitive categories are Computer Animation / Film / VFX, [the next idea] voestalpine Art and Technology Grant, Hybrid Art, Digital Musics & Sound Art, and u19 – CREATE YOUR WORLD. Plus, all previous winners of a Golden Nica will vote online to select the 2015 recipient of the Visionary Pioneers of Media Art award. Once again, winners receive the coveted Golden Nica statuette or a grant from voestalpine, prize money of up to €10,000 per category, and an opportunity to make a high-profile appearance at the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz. The Prix Ars Electronica's continuity, its global reach and reputation, the several thousand participants it attracts each year and, by no means least of all, the caliber of its jurors have combined to make this one of the world's foremost arbiters of outstanding achievement in the media arts. Chuck Jones Exhibition WHAT'S UP, DOC? Enters Final Weeks at Moving Image

During the final month of the popular Smithsonian exhibition What's Up, Doc? The Animation Art of Chuck Jones -- closing Monday, January 19 -- Museum of the Moving Image will be celebrating animation in its galleries, theaters, and classrooms. In conjunction with the Chuck Jones exhibition, this holiday period, the Museum is presenting daily screenings of classic Chuck Jones cartoons and "Stop Motion Shapes," family animation workshops inspired by the legendary animator. In addition, the Museum will present the contemporary animated features Coraline (in 3-D), Ratatouille, Toy Story 2, The Wind Rises, and others.

Christopher Nolan to Receive the Cinematic Imagery Award

Christopher Nolan will receive the prestigious Cinematic Imagery Award from the Art Directors Guild (ADG) at its 19th Annual Art Directors Guild's Excellence in Production Design Awards, it was announced today by ADG Council Chairman John Shaffner and Awards Producers Dave Blass and James Pearse Connelly. Comedian Owen Benjamin will host the black-tie ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, set for January 31, 2015.
