The Gallery Players Present THE HOUSE OF BLUE LEAVES 9/12-27

The Gallery Players is proud to open its 43rd Season in September with John Guare's classic The House of Blue Leaves. Directed by Dev Bondarin (Prospect Theatre Company), this 1971 Obie Award winner for best play opens September 12, 2009.

Gorilla Rep Presents JULIUS CAESAR In Ft. Tryon Park, Opens August 7th

Gorilla Rep will return to free Shakespeare in the park this August, with Julius Caesar, to be performed Fridays & Sundays, from August 7 -30, on the lawn below the New Leaf Café, Parking Area in Ft. Tryon Park. The production, which will be the full, uncut version, is directed by Stephen Fried & is presented to the public for FREE. There will be no intermission, but audiences will be able to leave & rejoin the performance in progress.

Gorilla Rep Opens World Premiere Of New Translation Of Ibsen's PEER GYNT August 6

Gorilla Rep will present the World Première of Henrik Ibsen's Peer Gynt with a new translation & adaptation by Laura Lynn MacDonald, on Thursdays & Saturdays, from August 6 - 29 at Summit Rock in Central Park. The production will be directed by Gorilla Rep Artistic Director, Christopher Carter Sanderson with original music by Andre-Philippe Mistier. There will be no intermission, but audiences will be able to leave & rejoin the performance in progress.

Part of the mission of the Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival is to nurture literary and theatrical talent. Signature Theatre Announces 3 New Musical Commissions & 2 Awards; Recipients Include Guettel, Foley, Michelson, Miller & Richards

Eric Schaeffer, Artistic Director of the Tony Award®-winning Signature Theatre, today announced that Signature Theatre is expanding its American Musical Voices Project (AMVP) for a fourth year with the commission and production of a new musical by Adam Guettel for its 2011-2012 season. Also announced as part of The Next Generation segment of the AMVP were two additional musical commissions awarded to Peter Foley and Marisa Michelson as well as honoree grants given to Chris Miller and Scott Davenport Richards for the development of future musical ideas. Signature, with the support of The Shen Family Foundation, has awarded $595,000 to artists in honors and commissions in the past three years. The American Musical Voices Project is the largest single musical theater commissioning and producing initiative at any non-profit theater in America.
