Main Street Theater's current production of Tom Stoppard's brilliant comedy, The Real Inspector Hound is a runaway hit!

Tom Stoppard’s THE REAL INSPECTOR HOUND captures an urbane wittiness that is simultaneously droll and accessible. It’s a rare script that works on all levels with enough to analyze for the academic, and then slapstick humor to keep the childlike engaged fully. In short, it’s smart fun. It is the kind of piece that MAIN STREET THEATER handles particularly well.

The year is 1967, the place is San Francisco, and the conflict? A young and optimistic mixed-race couple has just announced their upcoming plans of marriage to unsuspecting parents. Guess Who's Coming to Dinner extracts the nuances and subtleties of prejudice and plops them center stage, both literally and figuratively, in the living room of the liberal, upper-class Drayton family.

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis will present the world premiere of Scott C. Sickles' Nonsense and Beauty, directed by Seth Gordon, running March 6 - 24 in The Rep's Emerson Studio Theatre.

In a way it is like watching a heady special episode of CHEERS set in London in the early 1620s. It seems like a place where everybody would know your name, and in the case of Will they did.

Main Street Theater (MST) will open its 43rd Season with the Regional Premiere of Lauren Gunderson's The Book of Will.  This compelling play tells the tale of how Shakespeare's First Folio came into existence thanks to the loyalty and love of his dear friends, particularly John Heminges and Henry Condell.  "As the Folger Shakespeare Library put it, the First Folio is 'the book that gave us Shakespeare,'" shares Book of Will director and MST Artistic Director Rebecca Greene Udden.  "That being so, it can then be said that Heminges and Condell gave us the book that gave us Shakespeare."  "[THE BOOK OF WILL] serves as homage to those who sacrificed to make the first folio happen and to Shakespeare's magnificent words." - Westword (Denver, CO).

In this age of whiz bang computer generated spectacles like STAR WARS or the AVENGERS, it's nice to sit down and take science fiction back to its roots. REPLICA aims at the human condition, and recreates it a little too perfectly to make anybody comfortable. 

For the final production of its 40th Anniversary Season, Stages Repertory Theatre presents the world premiere of Mickey Fisher's Replica, running May 23 - June 10, 2018. Replica is the fourth world premiere Stages has produced this season (in addition to Balls, A Midnight Clear: A Musical Tale of Christmas and Purple Eyes). A television writer and producer as well as a playwright, Fisher is best known as the creator of the television series Extant (CBS, starring Halle Berry), Mars (National Geographic) and the upcoming Reverie (NBC), which premieres May 30. 

Join 4th Wall Theatre for Reckless, the classic American, dark holiday comedy by Craig Lucas. This reimagining of the company's 2010 Houston production once again stars Kim Tobin-Lehl as the put-upon protagonist, Rachel, and features a strong ensemble cast including former Alley Theatre company member John Feltch; 4th Wall favorites Jennifer Dean and Nick Farco; and Deborah Hope, Kathleen Teodoro, and Zac Kelty in their 4th Wall debuts. Directed by Philip Lehl, Reckless previews November 30th and runs December 1st - 16th at STUDIO 101, Spring Street Studios.

For those of you who may have been wondering about God's whereabouts, or worrying about his well-being, I can now report that he's alive and well and doing stand-up at the Alley Theatre.

Gregory Boyd, Artistic Director of the Alley Theatre, announces the cast and creative team for Broadway comedy An Act of God. The production begins preview performances March 17, opens March 22 and continues through April 16, 2017 in the Neuhaus Theatre. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at alleytheatre.org.

Sarah Burgess's DRY POWDER, now in its last week at the Alley, is a peek into the world of private equity, and an exploration of 21st century morality, that had a pretty simple beginning.
