This was a dream of an evening of opera! It vastly exceeded expectations.

The next generation of songwriters is busy working and took a night off to play and sing at The Green Room 42 on February 3rd. A full room of supportive music appreciators heard some new musical theatre-style material based on assignments like 'Imagine Blanche DuBois singing' or 'write a love song without the word 'love.''

Pacific Chorale presents 'Tis the Season!' family-friendly concert with carols, seasonal favorites, and a visit from Santa at Segerstrom Concert Hall on Dec. 17 & 18.

The series stars Harriet Slater as “Clara Trenchard (née Dunn)”, Benjamin Wainwright as “Frederick Trenchard”, Edward Bluemel as “Dr. Stephen Ellerby”, Toby Regbo as “Rev. The University Press of Mississippi (UPM) in association with University of Mississippi Museum and Historic Houses (UMM/the Museum) is celebrating the release of its latest volume in a series featuring artists and works in UMM’s collection: “American Landscapes: Meditations on Art and Literature in a Changing World.”

Sharon Preston-Folta's documentary feature, Little Satchmo, is the heartwarming and heart-wrenching story of her journey as the secret daughter of legendary jazz trumpeter, Louis Armstrong.

As part of its family-friendly 20th Anniversary Season, Theater Alliance is revisiting a show it produced more than 15 years ago: The Bluest Eye, adapted from Toni Morrison's novel by Lydia R. Diamond. 

Westport Country Playhouse will stage the gripping tale of determination, hope, motivation, and inspiration, “From the Mississippi Delta,” written by Endesha Ida Mae Holland, Ph.D., and directed by Goldie E. Tony nominee and MacArthur 'Genius' grant winner Dominique Morisseau's critically acclaimed play, Detroit '67, begins October 12 at TheatreSquared  (477 W. Spring St., Fayetteville) and runs through November 6.

This romantic and mischievous romp will be produced as part of the National Building Museum's Summer Block Party on stage at The Playhouse that is being built from the ground up inside the Museum's majestic Great Hall.

This May, Opera San José will play host to the nation’s next generation of opera stars during its Irene Dalis Vocal Competition, named for the internationally-acclaimed mezzo-soprano who founded Opera San José.

On Easter Sunday, April 17, Seán Boulware will return to Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage under the auspices of MidAmerica Productions to conduct Mark Hayes' Gloria. Joining him onstage are vocal soloists Sydney Kucine, soprano; Jenni Bank, mezzo-soprano; Joseph Sacchi, tenor; and Erik Earl Larsen, baritone.

Louis Armstrong’s only child, Sharon Preston-Folta comes forward in the new documentary, Little Satchmo, after living closely in the shadows of her father, one of the most famous American figures of the 20th century, revealing a family and their relationship that was kept entirely invisible - until now.

To celebrate Black History Month, Towne Street Theatre will present Black Annie and the Pastor for one night only on Sunday February 27, 2022 at 4:00 pm.
