The Times Square Alliance announces the return of Taste of Times Square - an outdoor food and music festival - featuring international flavors from the district's top restaurants and the city's best street performers at the Crossroads of the World.  More than fifty of Times Square's most popular culinary destinations will offer "tastes" ranging from $2-$6 on Monday, June 1 from 5:00 - 9:00pm. The circus is coming to the Durham Performing Arts Center from May 12th-17th in the form of the national touring production of the Tony Award-Winning revival of Pippin! In this national tour happens to be John Rubinstein, who originated the title role in the orginal Broadway production back in 1972. Now he plays Pippin's father Charlemagne, a role originated on Broadway by Eric Berry, and more recently in the 2013 Broadway revival Three-Time Tony Nominee by Terrence Mann. (more...)

As the hit West End show Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, directed by Sam Mendes, approaches its second anniversary, producers today announced the cast that will take it into its third year. Alongside Jonathan Slinger as Willy Wonka will be Kraig Thornber (Grandpa George), Lara Denning (Mrs Bucket) and Mark Oxtoby (Jerry), among other new names. Originating company members Ross Dawes and Derek Hagen will take over the roles of Mr Salt and Mr Bucket respectively. (more...)

'Hudson Valley Honor Flight: Generation Bridge' tells the story of the local Honor Flight hub that takes World War II veterans to Washington D.C. to visit the monuments in their honor. It's a day-long celebration that gives the veterans the coming-home party they never received. I woke up early and went to Starbucks. I did not, however, check the weather forecast before I did. It was seventeen degrees with a wind chill of zero. After the "balmy" weather that preceded it, downtown felt positively Arctic and the whole Polar Vortex thing from last year came flooding back. On my way home, my legs stopped working. Pittsburgh has the highest curbs in the country (maybe the world) and I found myself stepping off them like a toddler so as not to tumble like and octogenarian. We had a brief brush-up rehearsal and got ready for the first show of opening week. (more...)

The hit West End production of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, directed by Sam Mendes, announced today that it has extended its booking period by six months until 1 November 2014. The show had previously been booking until 31 May 2014. The production, which has so far been seen by almost 300,000 people since it began previews in May 2013, is extending its run due to popular demand, releasing almost 400,000 extra tickets. (more...)

Saturday June 7th was a spectacular day for Houston residents Brian Hampton and Keith Huckabay. The partners of 13 years, who consider NYC their second home, got married at Cop Cot in Central Park surrounded by family and friends.
