The 27th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards were handed out this Sunday, May 6, 2012 at NYU Skirball Center, beginning at 7:00pm EST, in a ceremony that once again benefited the Actors Fund and honored the best of Off Broadway.

The lunatics, lovers and poets merrily charge onto the stage in full force in Classic Stage Company's raucous and witty, sexy and sensual mounting of A Midsummer Night's Dream.  Director Tony Speciale's playfully romantic staging of Shakespeare's tale of earthbound lovers fleeing to the woods to escape an arranged marriage, only to find themselves mixed up in the petty squabbles between a royal faerie couple, features a completely winning ensemble and entrancing visuals.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre to Give Away 3,000 Tickets to EMOTIONAL CREATURE

Today, Berkeley Repertory Theatre announced that it's giving away 3,000 free tickets for the world premiere of Eve Ensler's Emotional Creature in June. The Tony Award-winning theatre will deliver the free tickets to fellow nonprofit organizations and to government agencies that serve key constituencies, including at-risk youth, teens and young adults of both genders, and abuse victims of all ages, with priority given to groups that serve women and girls.

Nominations in 14 categories were announced today by the Off-Broadway League for the 2012 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway.
