This autumn, the world will mark the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and subsequent collapse of the Soviet Union. To commemorate this event, Burning Coal Theatre Company will present, for the first time anywhere, David Edgar's monumental Iron Curtain Trilogy. Performances run September 4 - 27, 2014 at 117 S. Burning Coal Theatre Company and the Raleigh Boychoir will present Civil Rights Through Song: A Choral History of Raleigh Through the Civil Rights Era, a performance using choral music, dance and drama to celebrate the Civil Rights Movement of the late 1950s/early 1960s, today, March 13 - 23, 2014. Performance dates are March 13 - 15 and 20 - 22, 2014 at 7:30 pm and March 16 and 23 at 2 pm. Burning Coal Theatre Company of Raleigh, NC will present the world premiere of Terry Milner's The Jesus Fund January 30 through February 16, 2014. Performance dates are Thursdays through Saturdays, January 30 - February 1, February 6 - 8 and February 13 - 15 at 7:30 pm and Sundays, February 2, 9 and 16th at 2 pm. Tickets are $25, or $20 for seniors (65+) and $15 for students. All Thursday night tickets are $15. Burning Coal Theatre Company will open its 17th season with the U.S. Premiere of The Heretic, a rollicking comedy by Richard Bean. The production will run September 12 - 29, 2013 at the Murphey School, 224 Polk Street, Raleigh, NC. Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2 pm. Sunday, September 15 at 2 pm is our 'Pay What You Can' Day. That performance will also be Audio Described. Tickets are $25, $20 for seniors (65+) and $15 for students and active military. In its 17th season, the theatre, which is housed in the historic Murphey School auditorium at 224 Polk Street, Raleigh, NC, will present the American premiere of The Heretic by Richard Bean, directed by Jerome Davis (September 12 - 26, 2013), William Shakespeare's (Three Man) Tempest, adapted and directed by Randolph Curtis Rand (December 5 - 22, 2013), the world premiere of Terry Milner's The Jesus Fund, directed by Beth Gardiner (January 30 - February 16, 2014) and Goodrich and Hackett's modern classic The Diary of Anne Frank, directed by Abdelfattah Abusrour (April 3 - 20, 2014). Burning Coal Theatre Company's artistic director, Jerome Davis, will conduct an eight week acting class based on the concepts the legendary acting teacher, Uta Hagen. The class will take place Mondays from 7 to 10 pm, June 10 through July 29th. The class is a scene study class which emphasizes ideas discussed in Ms. Hagen's landmark book Respect for Acting. The performance will include plays from students at Raleigh Charter School, Enloe High School and Wake Young Men's Leadership Academy. Performances of KidsWrite 2013 will take place on Friday, May 24th at 7:30 pm and Saturday, May 25th at 2 pm and 7:30 pm. Tickets are $10. No reservations necessary.
