The enormously popular production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC cannot seem to satisfy audience demand.

TheatreWorks, the nationally acclaimed theatre of Silicon Valley, is thrilled to present a sparkling new musical romance, DADDY LONG LEGS, based on the beloved novel by Jean Webster.

Producers Andrew Lloyd Webber, David Ian and David Mirvish have welcomed Simon Burke to their Toronto production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC. Burke, a versatile star of stage and screen originally from Australia but with a large body of work in the U.K., will take over the role of Captain von Trapp, having played the role in the West End London production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC, opposite the 'Marias' of Connie Fisher and Summer Strallen.

The long-running and award-winning Canadian Production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Sound of Music enters its final weeks at The Princess of Wales Theatre this month. Joining the cast for the last four weeks is esteemed theatre veteran Simon Burke, who sat down to talk with BWW to talk about joining the show and about spending Christmas in Canada!

Casting has been announced for the upcoming Ohio premiere of Jason Robert Brown's latest musical, 13. The production will take place at the Fairmount Center for the Arts beginning February 18th and run through February 28th. The production is directed by Sean Szaller with musical directed by Mike Caraffi and choreography by Bebe Weinberg Katz.

According to the Sh-K-Boom website, The Original Broadway Cast Recording of Jason Robert Brown's 13 (originally released in Fall 2008) has now been updated to include enhancements made to the show by Brown with book writers Robert Horn and Dan Elish after its Broadway premiere for upcoming regional and school productions around the world. The new CD will be available in stores from Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight Records on November 24.

Ghostlight Records is set to re-release the original cast recording of 13. The re-release will include 4 cut tracks from the show, as well as some additional material and edits done by composer Jason Robert Brown. In addition, the recording will have 2 discs, with the second one featuring accompaniment tracks of the songs from the show.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) is proud to have Stephen Sondheim & James Lapine return to Studio 54 with Sondheim on Sondheim, a new original Broadway musical starring Barbara Cook, Vanessa Williams, Michael Arden & Leslie Kritzer. Music & lyrics are by Stephen Sondheim, conceived & directed by James Lapine. Sondheim on Sondheim will begin previews on March 19th, 2010 and open officially April 22nd, 2010 at Studio 54 on Broadway (254 West 54th Street). The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) announced 176 nominations from 218 eligible productions that opened between June 1, 2008 and May 31, 2009 for the 30th annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards which honour excellence in the performing arts in Toronto.

How does the new lavish production fare on press night?

Raymond Gubbay and the Royal Albert Hall have announced a spectacular new fully staged in the round production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic musical The King and I. For a strictly limited season of only 20 performances the show will star one of the UK's best loved performers Maria Friedman, who appears alongside Daniel Dae Kim, star of the massive hit TV series Lost.

Michael Praed will star as 'Captain Von Trapp' alongside Connie Fisher as 'Maria' in the National UK tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber, David Ian and The Really Useful Group's smash hit production of the legendary Rodgers and Hammerstein musical 'THE SOUND OF MUSIC' opening at the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff on 26 July 2009, where it will play until 29 August 2009 (Box Office: 08700 40 2000). 'THE SOUND OF MUSIC' has announced it will be closing on February 21, 2009. The Andrew Lloyd Webber production will be on national tour with Connie Fisher playing the role of Maria. She was the original casting for this role.
