GLAAD, the nation's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) media advocacy organization, announced today the nominees for its 25th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, presented nationally by Ketel One Vodka, Wells Fargo, and Hilton Worldwide. By recognizing and honoring media for outstanding images of the LGBT community, the GLAAD Media Awards serve as a benchmark for the media industry and complement GLAAD's work to bring LGBT images and stories to people around the world.
'Silent Risk' Explores Risk to Countless Unborn Children

After 30 years of obstetrical experience, Dr. Jason H. Collins realized that a study of umbilical cord accidents (UCA) was needed. According to studies by the National Institutes of Health, UCAs constitutes 10-15% of stillbirths. Most unborn babies lost to UCA were normal, making their deaths needless and possibly preventable, as unexpected as they were. With his new book, Dr. Collins warns readers of this 'Silent Risk' and explores ways to detect and possibly prevent it.

'Meet the Press" was the most-watched Sunday morning public affairs hour on May 5, 2013, according to Nielsen Media Research data. The NBC broadcast drew 2.564 million viewers, topping This Week by +196,000, the Face the Nation hour by +308,000, and FOX News Sunday by +1,443,000.
