The Metropolitan Opera announced today that the ongoing health crisis has resulted in the cancellation of the entire 2020-21 season, but the company also announced ambitious artistic plans for its 2021-22 season, which will open with the Met premiere of Terence Blanchard's Fire Shut Up in My Bones.

In its first performance for a live, in-person audience since the coronavirus outbreak, Tulsa Opera will present the company's 2020-21 season opener, Verdi's Rigoletto, outdoors in a semi-staged, baseball-themed production directed by James Robinson at local baseball stadium ONEOK Field on Friday, October 9 at 7:30 p.m. CT.

San Francisco Opera will stream Giacomo Puccini's verismo triple bill of operas, Il Trittico, beginning Saturday, June 13, as part of the Company's Opera is ON initiative. The complete presentation of the three one-act operas, Il Tabarro (The Cloak), Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi, filmed live in high-definition at the War Memorial Opera House in 2009, will be viewable on demand for free at sfopera.com on Saturday, June 13 starting at 10 am PT and expiring at 11:59 pm the following day.
