Transport Group, the Drama Desk and OBIE award-winning theatre company, has announced initial casting for its one-night-only, all-star concert of the acclaimed 1983 Broadway musical Baby, which will take place Monday, June 18 at 7pm at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, 121 Christopher Street. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

blurbThe company of Broadway's first-ever revival of Stephen Schwartz's rock musical GODSPELL last month welcomed a new leading man - stage and screen star Corbin Bleu (Disney's 'High School Musical,' Broadway's In the Heights) - to the starring role of Jesus. This month, the show just passed 10,000 Facebook fans and star Julia Mattison wrote a song to celebate the ocassion. Check out the video below!

The tapping feet of this internationally acclaimed dance sensation has now reverberated around the world in 330 cities; 37 countries, and been seen by more than 11 million people. Now they are coming home - stronger, faster, louder and more outrageous than ever to tour Australia from July to August 2012. The 2012 winter tour commences in Canberra 3 to 8 July; then Newcastle 10 to 15 July; followed by Adelaide 17 to 22 July, Hobart 16 to 18 August, Albury 21 to 23 August and finally Wollongong 24 & 25 August.

The Fred Ebb Foundation (Mitchell Bernard, Trustee) in association with the York Theatre (James Morgan, Artistic Director) presents an invitation-only showcase presentation entitled Trunk and Disorderly: Songs from the Deep Dark Trunk of Jeff Blumenkrantz, who received the 2011 Fred Ebb Award. The presentation will feature Drew Gehling, Dee Hoty, Dee Roscioli, and Sarah Stiles.

The Game of Love is based The Anatol Plays by Arthur Schnitzler.

Frank Wildhorn Brings FRANK & FRIENDS Series to Birdland; Kicks Off in June With Morgan James, Rob Evan and More

Broadway at Birdland today announced a partnership with multi-Grammy and Tony nominated composer Frank Wildhorn for a monthly concert series called "Frank & Friends." The series of one-night-only concerts will feature the songs and performers from the composer's range of work in popular, theatrical and classical music. All profits will go to The Actors Fund, a nationwide human services organization that helps all professionals in the performing arts and entertainment.

Professor Mwalim DaPhunkee Recognized by Boston City Council

Musician/ Playwright/ Spoken-word artist and UMass Dartmouth Professor, Mwalim (Morgan James Peters) 'DaPhunkeeProfessor' was surprised and honored with a proclamation from the Boston City Council. During Mwalim's May 3rd presentation of 'You're An NDN??' at the Dudley Branch Library, Ken Yarbough, special assistant to Charles Yancey made the presentation in front of an audience of about 30 - 40 people. Cited for his '27 years as a performing artist, writer, digital media artist, educator and mentor throughout the Boston area...' Mwalim was particularly recognized for his 'Academic On The Block' initiative that brings presentations in the arts and humanities to community spaces, libraries and schools throughout eastern Massachusetts, including Roxbury, Dorchester, and Mattapan.
