Center Theatre Group's production of 'Amelie, A New Musical' at the Ahmanson Theatre opened December 16 and continues through January 15, 2017. Based on the motion picture written by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Guillaume Laurant, 'Amelie, A New Musical' will have its Broadway premiere at the Walter Kerr Theatre, beginning performances on March 9, 2017 and opening April 3, 2017. BroadwayWorld has confirmed that the Broadway company of the Tony Award-winning, record-breaking hit musical Chicago will welcome Charlotte Kate Fox, the American-born star of the popular NHK TV series 'Massan,' making her Broadway debut in the role of Roxie Hart for 16 performances only, November 2 to November 15, 2015 at the Ambassador Theatre (219 W. 49th St., NYC).

The producers of Chicago have announced that actress and "Dancing with the Stars" winner Rumer Willis will now make her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart on Monday, September 14. The change in her start date was made to allow her the necessary time to fully recover from multiple stress fractures to her foot that requires further rehabilitation. She will now play a 7-week limited engagement at the Ambassador Theatre (219 W. 49th St., NYC) through Sunday, November 1, 2015.

This month, CHICAGO is welcoming two of its top leading ladies back to the cell block. The first is Amy Spanger, who will return to the Ambassador Theatre for a limited engagement in Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse's record-breaking musical beginning tonight, August 4.

The York Theatre Company will welcome cast members of the original Off-Broadway production of the critically acclaimed musical, Yank!, with book & lyrics by David Zellnik and music by Joe Zellnik, to celebrate the official release of the cast recording on Monday evening, February 24 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at The York Theatre Company's home at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). The celebration will be held on stage at The York Theatre, where Yank! received its world premiere and played a sold-out engagement in Spring 2010.

Creators David and Joseph Zellnik turned to Kickstarter yesterday to help raise $35,000 for the recording, which is also being partially financed by the Grammy-nominated PS Classics.

According to the Daily Mail, James Corden has signed on to appear alongside Daniel Mays in Nick Payne's play The Same Deep Water As Me at the Donmar Warehouse, directed by John Crawley. Corden also recently met with Into the Woods film director Rob Marshall to discuss appearing in the movie adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's musical. If the dates for both projects do not conflict, Corden will take part in the pair.

According to a recent casting notice, Rob Marshall's film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's classic musical is set to begin shooting this September in the U.K.

As BroadwayWorld.com previously reported, Meryl Streep will play the witch in the upcoming big screen adaptation of INTO THE WOODS. Now according to Variety, Johnny Depp is currently in talks to join the cast as well. There is no word yet on which part Depp would play.
