This autumn Nottingham Playhouse and New Perspectives join forces with acclaimed novelist John Harvey to bring his most famous creation, jazz-loving detective Charlie Resnick, to the stage for the very first time. DARKNESS DARKNESS, which is Harvey's own adaptation of his bestselling novel, runs from September 30 to October 15. The production is part of the Playhouse's Sweet Vengeance season, which explores the themes of revenge, justice and resentments buried deep, in a series of work that also includes Peter Shaffer's Sleuth (September) and Thomas Middleton's The Revenger's Tragedy (November).

St. Ann's Warehouse to Open 2016-17 Season with World Premiere of Taylor Mac's A 24-DECADE HISTORY OF POPULAR MUSIC

St. Ann's Warehouse, having just concluded an immensely successful inaugural season in its "stunning" (New York Magazine), "gorgeous" (The New Yorker) new theater on the Brooklyn Bridge Park waterfront, kicks off its 2016-17 season with a highly anticipated event five years in the making: the World Premiere of Taylor Mac's A 24-Decade History of Popular Music. The "staggering magnum opus" (The New York Times) performance art concert is Mac's subjective history of the United States, told through songs that were popular throughout the country, and in its disparate communities, from 1776 to the present day. From September 15 through October 8, Mac, a 24-piece orchestra and a vast group of special guests will perform this massive spectacle in two ways: as a series of concerts covering three decades each, and in a one-time-only, non-stop, 24-hour marathon performance.

Wilma Theater Adds Blanka Zizka's ADAPT! to 2016-17 Season

The Wilma Theater has announced its final production of the 2016/17 Season, the world premiere of Blanka Zizka's Adapt!. Launching off of Wilma Artistic Director Blanka Zizka's recent receipt of the Vilcek Prize in Theatre-which recognizes immigrants who have made lasting artistic contributions to American society-this world premiere project examines the process of assimilation and adaptation. It also showcases artists from the recently launched Wilma HotHouse resident acting company, who have been developing the piece with Zizka during their weekly training sessions, alongside an exciting collection of international artists including composer Mariana Sadovska, Czech actor Aneta Kernova, and Greek actor and singer Aneza Papadopoulou. The creative team includes Set Designer Matt Saunders, Costume Designer Oana Botez, Lighting Designer Thom Weaver, and Sound Designer Daniel Perelstein. Major Support for Adapt! has been provided by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage.

Lehmann Maupin to Open New Gallery in Chelsea

 From June 2 to 4, Barcelona will once again become the place where video art lovers can discover and see the latest developments in the sector. 4.000 people are expected to attend.Lemaître, Josée and Marc Gensollen, Haro Cumbusyan and Renee Drake, and chaired by Jean-Conrad Lemaître. All in all, there will be over 15 hours of runtime and 47 artist films and videos, including 33 world, European and Spanish premieres. The variety of nationalities of the invited artists, who hail from 25 different countries, and the participation of galleries from 20 different countries make LOOP Fair the place where the latest creative and discursive developments in this format, as well as the latest debates and notions in the sector, are revealed. Alongside historic figures such as artists Malcolm Le Grice or Tania Mouraud, the fair will also be attended by renowned international artists such as Dora García, Sigalit Landau or Kader Attia as well as budding young talents such as Basim Magdy, Pilvi Takala, Michael Linares, Paulo Nazareth or Shezad Dawood, among others. Throughout the fair, a professional jury featuring Dirk Snauwaert (director at WIELS, Brussels), Kathryn Weir (Centre Georges Pompidou) and Ferran Barenblit (director at the MACBA) will grant the LOOP Fair Award and the Acquisition Award.

Sing for Hope will celebrate the fifth anniversary of its legendary community arts program, The Sing for Hope Pianos, with a public unveiling of all 50 pianos on June 6(th) at 28 Liberty Plaza in New York City. The event will feature Tony Award-winning actress Lea Salonga, Tony Award- and Drama Desk-nominee Daphne Rubin-Vega, former Late Night with David Letterman bandleader Paul Shaffer, the dynamic Anderson & Roe Piano Duo, cast members from On Site Opera's acclaimed Figaro Trilogy, saxophonist/composer Ted Nash, singer/songwriter Pete Muller, and other stars of the New York music scene, along with student musicians from Sing for Hope's programs.

Audiences of over 52,000 enjoyed an impressive range of world-class dance performances and events at International Dance Festival Birmingham 2016 (IDFB 2016), up by over 50% in comparison to the previous festival in 2014.  One of Europe's biggest and most diverse dance festivals, the fifth edition from 1-22 May, produced by DanceXchange in partnership with Birmingham Hippodrome, was a considerable success.
