Yorke Dance Project will present the London premiere of California Connections: Three Pioneering Women, a celebration of choreographers Isadora Duncan, Martha Graham and Bella Lewitzky and a new work from Yolande Yorke-Edgell.

Featuring new gig theatre, new plays, immersive theatre experiences, dance, comedy, and physical performance The Lowry, Salford has announced its Contemporary Season for Spring 2024. 

Yorke Dance Project, the contemporary ballet company run by Yolande Yorke-Edgell, has two major premieres this autumn: its film of Sea of Troubles, Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s ballet based on Hamlet, and a new mixed bill, California Connections, which pays tribute to three inspirational female choreographers – Isadora Duncan, Martha Graham and Bella Lewitzy.

It all began with a WEA art appreciation course.

The Royal Shakespeare Company has announced that Elliot Harper will play Miss Trunchbull in Matilda The Musical's UK and Ireland Tour from Tuesday 15 January at Theatre Royal Plymouth. The tour will then play at the Alhambra Theatre, Bradford (19 February - 23 March 2019), Edinburgh Playhouse (2 - 27 April 2019), The Bristol Hippodrome (7 May - 8 June 2019), Mayflower Theatre, Southampton (11 June - 6 July 2019) and Norwich Theatre Royal (16 July - 17 August 2019). The West End production will continue to play at the Cambridge Theatre, where it is now in its eighth year and is booking until 24 May 2020.

The Royal Shakespeare Company has announced new child casting for the Matilda The Musical UK and Ireland Tour with Sophia Ally and Scarlett Cecil joining Annalise Bradbury and Nicola Turner in sharing the title role of Matilda from 29 August. The West End production will continue to play at the Cambridge Theatre, where it is now in its seventh year and is booking until 20 October 2019.

Lee Hall's play ends the American Stage season with a bang; it's a lovely production.

In 1934, a group of Ashington miners hired a professor to teach an art appreciation evening class. Rapidly abandoning theory in favour of practice, the pitmen began to paint - prolifically. Within a few years avant-garde artists became their friends and their work was acquired by prestigious collectors; but every day they continued to work, as before, down the mine.

Originally produced by Newcastle's acclaimed Live Theatre, and following sell-out seasons at the National Theatre, on Broadway and in the West End, Bill Kenwright presents the award winning play THE PITMEN PAINTERS, as it embarks on a new national tour in the spring of 2013.
