Eaton and Cecil to Perform JAZZ, BLUES & BROADWAY at The Alden, 6/21

Two of D.C.'s favorite jazz musicians, pianist John Eaton and bassist Tommy Cecil, will bring a 'cool' and refreshing summer concert, 'Jazz, Blues & Broadway' to The Alden for a single performance on Saturday, June 21, at 8 p.m. The duo will perform a variety of songs, while Eaton will accentuate the music with his trademark witty, astute commentary. Tickets are $27, $18 for McLean district residents. District residents can purchase tickets for $13 prior to May 21. The Alden is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue, inside the McLean Community Center. Acclaimed NYC vocalist-songwriter Marcus Goldhaber will be singing for the troops with his 6-piece band in an all-new concert production that celebrates "The New Greatest Generation" for the Memorial Day Weekend tour launch. The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra hosts its 2014 Spring into Music Gala tonight, April 26, at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark. The event includes cocktails, dinner and a silent auction, followed by an NJSO POPS concert featuring a screening of The Wizard of Oz with live orchestral accompaniment. The gala's honorees are former Governor Brendan Byrne and his wife, Ruthi, in honor of the Governor's 90th birthday. Former Governors Richard J. Codey, James J. Florio, Thomas H. It took Lucie Arnaz her entire professional life to get booked for a solo nightclub/cabaret show at the Cafe Carlyle. It turned out to be worth the wait-for herself and her audiences-and her weeklong run at the stylish club (that began on April 13 and ends with shows tonight at 8:45 and 10:45) would no doubt have made her famous parents--Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz--beam with pride. Lucy might have erupted into a joyful crying jag, while Desi would have kvelled in his signature rapid-fired Spanish because when it comes to her performance on a cabaret stage, Lucie Arnaz doesn't 'got some 'splaining to do.'
