The sounds of the blues fills Centenary Stage Company's Lackland Center on Saturday February 6 at 8pm with legendary blues musician Guy Davis and special guest harmonica player Fabrizio Poggi. 'Davis' folksy and humble stage presence, combined with his humorous monologues, made one feel that this was not a concert, but rather, an impromptu performance on a front porch down in some southern swamp. Jujamcyn Theaters and True Colors Theatre Company (Kenny Leon, Co-Founding Artistic Director) have announced that Moye Light from Atlanta has won first place at the 7th Annual August Wilson Monologue Competition held on Monday, May 4th at the August Wilson Theatre (245 West 52nd Street). Cameron Southerland from Atlanta was the runner-up, and an honorable mention went to Jonathan German from New York City. The event, which was free and open to the public, featured high school students from Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Pittsburgh, Portland and Seattle performing monologues by the late, legendary American playwright.

Billboard Magazine honored Bob Benjamin and the Light of Day Foundation with the Humanitarian Award last night at the 2014 Billboard Touring Conference & Awards, honoring the concert industry's top artists, venues and professionals of the year. The 11th annual event was held at the Edison Ballroom in New York City and also featured an appearance by Lionel Richie to accept the Legend of Live Award, and a rousing performance by Kool & the Gang to close out the evening.
